Default Very quick HDD size question (Manufacture count size vs real size)
Hitachi's new 1TB HD.

How big is it really? What will my OS see it as?

Can't do the math.

1 TB = 10^12 = 1 000 000 000 000
1 000 000 000 000 / 2^30 =~ 931.3 GiB

just multiply the manufacturers quote in GB by 0.931 to find out what available storage Windows will give you. Bear in mind that the actual figure will still vary by a few GB still.
