The IE's are really the good ones that show you know your ****, 'cause they're the only ones where you HAVE to prove your knowledge in an actual lab, you can't just pump-n-dump your brain.
Not true. I just took the CCNA exam today and it is a damn hard test. I had 3 simulation questions which make you prove you know what you're doing with a router or switch. I studied my ass off and I barely passed with a 872/1000 (passing is about 849).

On to the CCNP!!

congrats man.
just wondering but what kind of questions did you get? especially simulation questions.
btw are you allowed to use the shortcut commands like 'sh ip route', 'int f0/1' and stuff?

im going through the labs right now, need to focus more on acl and frame relay as those are the most challenging one, is ISDN/Bri still in it?

Thanks man, I'm so glad I passed!

The first sim was all about configuring the proper extended access list for the situation. The second sim was related to gathering information from a switched network to answer questions. The third one was related to configuring a proper IP scheme for a network. To answer your question - you can use shortcuts on simulations.

Got several access list related questions. Didn't have a single ISDN question, which makes sense since the next CCNA test version won't even have ISDN. Know your routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, etc.).

Good luck!!

What were these simulations, if I may ask?

And yes, very true. Believe me. . .I've met CCNAs that were dumber than stumps, unfortunately.

How much education do you recommend having before going for these certs? I am going into my second year of school and am taking a couple of cisco classes and from what I understand, they're going to be loads of "fun" I guess I will have to get off my ass and study some if I go for one. [thumbdown]

You really don't need a certain level of college education before going after the CCNA. But I would recommend getting your Network+ certification before the CCNA. I definitely wouldn't recommend jumping right into the CCNA without any network knowledge or experience.

Education? Meh. . .

Experience? Well. . .that would probably be better, IMHO, than just a college education with a CCNA tacked on. Now all 3 would probably be the best bet. You might actually want to try to get some job with Uni IT, then work on your Cisco stuff.

I know, just I'm lazy and the thought of having to go through another round of studying doesn't strike me as fun, but by time I am ready to take it, I should have enough experience to not have to a lot, just mainly review the stuff that I won't use too much. How long have you all waited, after/during school and in the work force did you go for it? Just more getting a general idea then anything else.

Default booked my CCNA exam in one month
I booked my CCNA exam for August 20.
already been going through the modules/book and now I'm gonna start doing some hands on labs/work.

anyone recommend any other good sites to review ?
and I heard that during the exam there will be a Cisco emulator that you use for the hands on part, anyone got a link for something like it for me to familiarize with?

Funny you mention it. I'm doing some last minute cramming for my CCNA exam which I'm taking this friday.

I passed the exam back in 2003 but I hear that the new exam is quite a bit harder. For the bulk of my study, I used Todd Lammle's CCNA study guide and now I'm using the CCNA flash cards book to quiz myself.....

Do you have any networking experience? If not, you better study your ass off, this is not an easy exam......

I did that for school only I'm not really certified. I have 'certificates' from CCNA 1,2,3,4 but I never took the actual cert. test because i realized **** Cisco that shits way too boring!

cool lmk how it works for you man., like what kind of questions you getting.

I have some network experience especially with cisco routers. but im just worried that I'll screw up on the cisco emulator that we will be using during the exam, thank god its only around 60 questions.

<font color="red">CCNA -> CCNP -> CCIE

There's also security, VoIP, design, SANS, and ISP certs, too.
