So I’m starting to finally setup filters and stuff with Gmail since I’m getting ready for the iPhone and I don’t want EVERY single email forwarded to my Yahoo account and pushed down to my phone, just personal ones from friends and FedEx tracking info and stuff like that. Oh, speak of the devil, iPhone ad on TV again!
![]() Anyway, this is my personal account yet I still get a decent amount of “junk” mail (iTunes or Apple news bits, FTD sales info, stuff like that from places I’ve ordered from, etc) and I want to filter that kind of stuff into labels and have it skip the inbox and just be archived. This is the filter I setup to forward everything EXCEPT the things defined, it reads like this. Matches: to ![]() Do this: Forward to my account at Yahoo which will act as the push@yahoo.com So far this seems to work as I’ve tested emails that have the words “New Music Tuesday” in it and such and that doesn’t get fired off to my Yahoo yet if I send other stuff it does get by and reaches my Yahoo account. Now, the problem I’m having is that I want to setup another filter that will take basically that same long list and make it skip the inbox and instead be labeled as “Junk” so it isn’t in danger of being deleted (in case I need something from on of those places) but it’s all sorted into an area that isn’t right in front of me when I log in. Instead of defining what I DON’T want, I’m trying to build one filter that defines a bunch of terms or domains that I DO want to catch and apply the same action to. However, when I make that long list and put it in the gmail spot “Has the words:” it doesn’t seem to find ANY emails. I guess I need some kind of “or” action but I don’t understand how to do it. It isn’t working with first item, second item, “third item”, etc and it isn’t working with first item or second item or “third item” or first item + second item + “third item”. I hope you understand what I’m asking and I hope someone knows what format to type the stuff out to get Gmail to have one massive filter that will grab as many different domains or terms as I want and apply the same action to them. |
