Default why dont they make wireless
In car audio ?

I have an MEX R5 head unit with a 4ch 2.4ghz AV sender built in why oh why dont manufacturers make amps with this technology built in >?

or am I missing somthing here

1) It would be a bitch to replace the batteries all the time.
2) The interference that you have when hundreds of people around you are using cellphones and all that crap will make it unbearable.

well with my car the battery is in the boot so it would suit me.

Actually, Philips are working on developing in-car systems using RF to link mp3 players etc to car speakers and audio units. not quite the same I'll admit, but similar to what you are talking about.

I'd imagine the signal will be digital... so interference wont matter, it's not like it's RF analogue in the traditional sense. Also mobile phones don't operate at 2.4GHz. For example 3G mobiles run between 800 and 900MHz.

Also I'm sure you would make a secure connection between the amp and head unit so if you pass another car with a similar setup the amps and head unit know which signals to pick up.
