I was driving back from Manchester late last night, and was driving through Whitchurch (country town) and its all country roads. As i was approaching a town, i kept the speed to a steady 40. They was no one else on the roads, and i had my main beams on. I came up to a right hand corner, and there was a house on the left.
Out jumped this poor cat and I had literally 1/10th second to react, and THUMP... I hit the poor cat, and heard as it passed under the car... I just let go of the throttle, and came to a steady halt. Pulled over and wacked the emergency lights on while i composed myself on what just happened. I turned the engine off, and when to see where the cat was. I saw it lying dead in the middle of the road with blood poring from its head. I picked the poor thing up off the road and just laid it down on the grass near by. Returned to my car to find that my front bumper is smashed in the middle and hanging both sides. I managed to wedge it together for the rest of my journey, but felt pretty shitty most of the way. I returned home and straight away hugged both of my cats... I still feel crap about it, and pissed that i gotta spend more money on the car... Just had to pay £400 for a new clutch and labor... |

It's not gonna stop ya feeling bad about it m8, but sometimes there's nothing you can do, especially on those little country roads. If you were sticking to that slow it must have literally stepped in front of you so you know you're not to blame, s'just one of those things.
.....Gonna go home and hug my cat too now ![]() |

i can imagine what you feel like, as 1 of my 2 cats was squished just a few weeks ago outside our house.
i didn't see the car that ran over my cat, but i bet it was driving slowly on our road like all the other drivers. my cat simply didn't know how to navigate the road and got squished. no one's responsibility except a cat was outside in the human domain and a car came along, all it was is timing. no mal intent. whether the cat was wild or had an owner, it is still an animal that will live a certain way outside. you weren't responsible any more than the fact that animals and humans exists near each other. cause and effect i'm afraid. nothing you could have done unless you think about NOT evolving and living in a cave. it's kind of the price other species pay for human's impatience to do things. so don't beat yourself up too much, you love animals i can tell, so continue to enjoy your life as you already do. and maybe help others be as aware of how human development effects the universe we ALL live in, so maybe everything can live long enough to be loved. |
