Oh yeah. But when you bend down once every minute, every hour, 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, etc... you're bound to do it wrong once, and that's all it takes.

FFS the first time I wrecked my back, I did it bending down to pick up a .05oz packet of gravy mix.
LMAO... bending back and you are screwed.

You are supposed to keep it straight and USE YOUR LEGS. Its called squats. If you use your back - few muscles are used and you put pressure on your spine. When you squat to lift - you constantly work leg muscles.

Keep your back straight at ALL times.

Nearly 15 years out of high school and all my friends who played sports then are, for the most part, incapacitated from much physical activity. Bad knees, shoulders that 'throw out' easily, fallen arches, pinched nerves, bad backs...it doesn't seem like it was all worth it 15 years on.
I was never big on sports, but I was a very "adventerous" child...my knee's and back remind me of that all the time too.

While I agree that too much sport is a bad thing too little is a health problem as well. Although I don't play sports anymore I walk a lot and find that it's enough for me. One of my mates was recently hospitalised after a big hit in Australian rules football and broke 3 vertebrae I have asked him if he will play again and he said he probably will in a year or so depending on what the doctors say. If it was me I would call it a day it's just not worth your health, specifically with back problems. He is only 21 years old. Another friend of mine (23) broke his shoulder blade when playing football is well but he isn't going to play again. The worst part is that football clubs and sporting clubs in general are no liable for the health and welfare of their players so they have to pay for everything themselves unless you are a paid player worth the clubs time to nurse back to health, typically this only happens in pro sports and so all the "social" players are screwed. When they get hurt and cant go to work and have to pay hospital bills life can be tough.[no]
As a member of my rugby club there was a big chart on the wall for each ailment, such as loss of one limb, loss of walking etc and the amount the insurance covered it. It was kind of creepy. Then again, the worst I ever had was a pulled muscle from one time not fullt commiting to tackling which IMO over 8 years (and sometimes playing 5 times a week) that was not bad [thumbup]

I've done it a few times, thanks.

How can you not play sports?

I use the gym, do circuit training and play football regularly. Football is the most entertaining way to get exercise.

.... except sex obviously.

Why do I want to grapple with a bunch of other guys? And by sports I mean team sports.

For my part I would participate in sports for the social aspect... I alway enjoyed a kickabout in the evening with a few mates when the school was empty.

But really beyond cycling I would not want to persue anything more hazardous. I can enjoy cycling without worrying about hairline fractures in years to come... that is of course if I manage not to have an accident.

So far so lucky

It's about aggression and power and pushing through the pain and working with your team. Rugby is even better though as you feel it a lot more with no armour or helmet. Too many guys devote too much time to the girly games like Tennis and football, they should concentrate more on the manly games like fighting and rugby.

I can achieve that without bumping up against other guys...which leads right back to the question?

Which leads to my quesion, why not? You are playing with a team and i don't see what's so bad about encounters with other players, it's a sport after all.

Because I only like physical contact with females.

List a sport that doesn't have power, aggression and pushing through the pain where men don't rub up against each other? And any man that feels wrong about touching another man must have some weird feelings they're trying to hide.

I can get those things without "sport",from various other means. And if it were something with someone elses participation I'd rather they were fiery and female...than well, you know..another man.

I like the male/female matches in this vid actually...that would be really cool.

You're not going to bed with them, you are playing a match. I guess you stay away from handshakes as well?

You aren't going to bed with them true, but it's still borderline gay. And,yes,I avoid contact with *most* people actually, and especially other males.

Just assume it's part of my "religous" beleifs.

No, but it may be borderline gay to have gay thoughts during a game when you should be paying attention to the ball.

Hmm,who said anything about gay thoughts, other than you? I just said it's kind of gay to enjoy bumping in to,grappling with, and 'testing your strength" against other males. I'd say some psychological text or other would probably agree.

You don't have to take it as a personal insult, but if you do..well what does that really say?
