Default Aids Question...
well, curious, after you do your business, if lets say the chick had aids, and you touch the condom to discard of it, do you get aids ? or since it came in contact with the air the virus is killed ?

The virus has to enter your blood stream to infect you. Just having it on your skin won't do anything. It needs to get inside you...eyes, a cut, the bum, or through Mr. Peepers.

So I'd be in the clear if lets say, a chick just wants to have fun, and I dont really know much about her, but strap on, and like touch the condom, or something like that ? sorry, just had to make sure.

hiv is a weak virus, air kills it. it's only happy in bodily fluids.. blood and the other ones (use your imagination). it doesn't neccessarily infect you throught the 'bum'

it has been know to pass through 'thin' skin like the underside of the fore skin.

google will explain in greater more medical detail if you are concerned

As long as it doesn't enter you through fluids you should be fine. That being said, abstinence is the best policy to avoid HIV. Just wrap it up and hope for the best and get tested often if you are whoring around.

What he said! The chances are very low with quality condoms but it is there.

However, it would seem you'll probable take the risk, low as it is, so I would hope you've the sense to get regular HIV/AIDS tests.
Remember there's NO cure and for those who live ten or twenty years, there're those who don't live one.

I get tested once or twice a year to be safe.

If I increase my sexual activity I will get tested more.

There's risk with all sexual exchanges, so don't just have HIV on the mind. Be mindful of other things. Remember that HIV is a virus and cannot surive long without a host. It is extremely fragile, as someone else mentioned. HCV, for instance, is far more durable and easier to contract.

As a rule, try to avoid direct contact with anyone's fluids. You won't contract HIV by handling a blood-soaked condom, but I'd still advise washing your hands after doing so.

Use your condoms and lube properly, don't share your dirty needles, and avoid HIV vertical transmission by resisting the urge to breast-feed from a woman who is HIV+.

Oh, and talk with your partner.

Oral stuff is not fine and Condoms arn't worth the rubber they're made with, I had one split on me only last week.

Maybe you should hold off a bit? There's always risk involved. That's not something you want to be dealing with at this point in your life.

Just because you don’t think she’s been working the street or “whoring” around or anything does not mean that she didn’t get it through doing drugs. I’m not sure about you, but I would want to know if the chick I’m with is (or used to be) a hardcore IV drug user. It’s pretty nasty and worth protecting yourself from it. Granted it’s not an end all, if you two really are sure about things and you use a condom you should be pretty ok. Also, transmission from female to male is a lot lower then male / male or male / female so you have that on your side too, again though, don’t think it can’t happen.

Also, Puzzle, it was probably more likely user error then the condom “not being worth the rubber it’s made out of”, they’re pretty damn good and far better then nothing.

User Error? Put on ****, put in girl?

I'm fairly sure I've managed it a Million times and I reckon 1 in 5 screw up.
I've had the HPV's to prove it.

It is over here in the state, however, it’s not done very well. Everything is very cold and presentation like and really doesn’t do a good job of educating people about it. If I had a kid I seriously would just be far happier (and less worried) if they listened to a good few months of Loveline on top of or even instead of the 1 hour or 2 hour lecture about it they’ll get in school. Even at high school level you really don’t gain a good understanding of this stuff, college level was the point where if the subject did come up people really asked about it and learned a good deal but it really didn’t come up except for slightly in my biology class.

So you’re telling me 20% of the time you use a condom it breaks or something happens to cause it to be ineffective? That really points to user error. Make sure you’re putting it on right (Google) and make sure it’s the right size.

Totally awesome link explaining it
