Okay I have a question I ran the test locally got about 3.5Mbps and out of interest I tried a few in the States and I found the speed around 1Mbps does this mean technically even if say I have a 24Mbps connection I'd still only manage about 1Mbps on a trans-atlantic connection?
It all depends on the servers really. But for the most part, yes, anything transatlantic will be a bit slower.

My brand new "NextG" wireless broadband card[thumbup]
Nice one scoobs! Is it from work or you paying for it? Also where did you do your test, CBD or in outback Strath?

Well they said they should be offering 3Mbit speeds by March... wait and see I guess.

Funny how your upload is faster than my cable.

I had to disconnect my router to do this speed test because my router only has a 10Mbit WAN port! So my router is slower than my internet.

Yeah work is paying for it of course

I did that test in Strath so no doubt I'm pretty happy about the connection speed, which is just as fast as ADSL is there. Of course it's not really a cost effective solution for most people but it means I can log into work from anywhere in the country and have a usable connection.

That's sweet. I wish they would give something like that to me for my laptop... not really too valuable to the company, however I'd be able to remote in from Loxton.

If you could do a speed test from the CBD that would be sweet! See if there is much diff.

Dude, we need to go have some drinks.

Me and the guy from Malmo are holding the latency record at 14ms.

Not that it really means much... just close to servers.

Horray, finally a speed test that has servers that aren't just America or Europe.

I actually live in Gothenburg - Malmö is a good 300 km away but the closest test server. That is one of the nice thing with fiber - the first "hop" is only about 1-3 ms - very good for gaming. [thumbup]

Best I got, I'm closer to the Amsterdam server but that sucks, just as about any european server I use. Should be 20/1, was uploading something.

Edit:

Munich is the fastest server for me.
