My friend found this way to get free domain name and hostin for a year.
Hey everybody, my friend discovered two web sites that are running a cross promotion that effectively lets you get free domain name and hosting for a year (if you have a paypal account). Basically you pay $10 at one site for a domain, tell the other site who gives you hosting and puts $10 back in your paypal account. When it is all done you have a free domain name and hosting for a year!
I was his "beta tester" and followed the instructions and they worked great. I registered http://www.zugwalt.com; but haven't had time to put anything there yet. I wanted to let more people know about this cool setup, and thought some people here may want to snag a domain name and hosting for a year. So if you guys want to check it out it is at: http://www.freerailshosting.com/ I am not trying to spam or advertise or anything, but just thought technological web-savy users such as yourself would be to the kind to like this sort of thing. Enjoy! |
Thats pretty cool, assuming it works.

Im so tempted to try this...

So Basically we used DreamHost to get the domain name, and then when you switch the DreamHost nameservers it is just a big pointer to HostingRails, which actually hosts our site. That is why when you cancel the DreamHost hosting (to avoid getting re-billed $10 in a year) they warn that you will lose your stuff, but you really don't because its hosted on HostingRails. After a few hours or whenever it is all ready let me know! |

I cant even find the login for railshosting to upload?
Are they going to email me? |
OK I just dug through my e-mail.
After a little more than a half-hour from the time I received my payment confirmation from DreamHost I got two e-mails from HostingRails, the first telling me I got the rebate via paypal, and then the second with the login information etc. [EDIT: and then for future reference it took about 3 hours after that welcome e-mail for the DreamHost thing to go through, your times may differer but I hope this gives you an idea] I do wish all the processing was instant! |

Thanks alot though! (if it works!!!) |
Oh and was i not supposed to cancel the dreamhosting thing straight after i'd signed up?
It wasnt that clear http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ies/blush1.gif |
nono you just got to cancel before next year.
I recommend canceling once dreamhost sends you the e-mails in a few hours. I'll tell my friend these suggestions and have him make it more clear. |

I suppose you mean cancel before end of the month... since thats all dreamhost said i get hosting wise... The domain is a year though... |
Oops I did indeed mean month. I wonder why I didn't catch myself every hosting service I know charges monthly.
|
I've got it all setup at hosting rails now, and they gave me the rebate [thumbup]
Thanks. Also i wonder why nobody else is doing this? or they are and arnt saying thanks.... |
Glad to hear it! Enjoy!
