Default fedex sucks
I've had a package at the distribution center for four business days now. Day 1 - weather problem. Day 2 - nobody knows why it didn't get on a truck. Day 3 - See day 2. Day 4 - Supposed to be delivered. My wife stayed home from work on Day 1 to sign for the package. So much for saving money by ordering online. I will never order anything that uses fedex ground again. This is the second time it's taken longer than 3 days for them to deliver from the distribution center. I overlooked the first time but, it's a pattern now.

"I'm sorry sir" - So far that's all I've gotten from them the last few days.

Hmm, never had a problem with them yet. *knock wood*

I'm waiting to see if something I ordered this morning will be delivered tonight via FedEx.

I never had a problem from them before either. But, this is twice in the last couple of months. It's just the local distro center. Good luck on yours.

Fed ex ground is poor around here too. Fedex is fine though. I hate my UPS driver. That bitch will leave packages outside , stood up next to the garage door and not even bother putting it on the porch OR coming to the door. [cursing]

Let me mention I never use the cheap-o "ground" service (the 4-7 day one). I always use Express saver (3-5 day) or Second Day Air.

Since I live in California, and a lot of distro centers are in California, the price difference between crappy Ground service and 2nd Day Air can be as low as 30 cents.

I used to prefer fedex over UPS. Our usual UPS guy is great but, if he misses a day, all of a sudden I don't have a valid address. Happens everytime. Sure I live out in the sticks but, If I can find it on every online map then they shouldn't have a problem finding it either.
Fedex express > UPS > fedex ground. At least around here.

California's pretty big... I live in SoCal (near Los Angeles).

Newegg orders always come in 2 days. If I get 2nd Day Air, it's two days or one day from most other places.

FedEx is almost always quicker than UPS around here. They even get to my house before noon. UPS usually doesn't get to my house before 5 PM. [thumbdown]

FedEx does suck. When I have an order, it goes to Ft. Worth, TX then it goes to Dallas, TX, then it goes back to Ft. Worth to be delivered to me.

This happens every single time.

Man, FedEx is FAR FAR better in general. Why? No union! You may get lucky with some local UPS experience, but in general, it is far worse than FedEx. Just take a look at the shipping times. The standard FedEx express saver, comparable to UPS ground, is far faster for the same price, if not cheaper. I can't honestly understand how UPS is still in business...

Then why is UPS so much cheaper than FedEx at Newegg? Is it just because Newegg and UPS are in an agreement or something?

FedEx recently delivered a package to me in the middle of a snow storm and one day early at that. What I really liked, though, was that the driver was thoughtful enough to go into my back yard and hide the package under my BBQ. He then left a note on my door indicating that he had hidden the package under my BBQ... If you're leaving instructions to all would-be thieves, why not just leave the package at the door?

Is your door exposed to the elements more than the BBQ?

I love FedEx they always deliver my packages a day earlier than UPS would, and UPS has yet to deliver a box that wasn't seriously beat to ****. If you ship UPS you have to put in twice as much protective material. And I will NEVER order a hard drive shipped UPS, that's for damn sure.

Yeah, they just got a better deal on volume shipping. I have seen other sites where the FedEx option is cheaper; so it can vary. But for the individual seller, FedEx is cheaper 99% of the time..
