Help i change uxtheme.dll so i could use a new theme and most of my windows have gone black so i cannot see enough to change it back ffs!

what can i do?!

Did you try safe mode? How about copying the old file using the command prompt?

After BIOS post, push F8 and go to safe mode.
Select Restore option and will be OK.

I'd boot into safe mode (VGA) and disable the themes service, found in start-run- services.msc .

Then go about restoring the updated uxtheme. I trust you made a backup?

ffs anyone know how to get into dos before windows boots i can only acess the command prompt with safe mode in the back ground

Looks like file is read only.
You need to change file attribute by - remove read only.

I haven't use a DOS for ages so command should be attr change - or so.
When in Dos push F1 - will bring a help file and see wanted command. Or google "dos commands" and find what you need.

attrib -r (removes read only) and attrib -s (removes the system file flag)
So, the command would be attrib -r -s filename
