One of my mates is looking for a portable solution for getting internet access that does not involve a contract of some sort. Now I remember reading about these Vodafone wifi cards where you pay as you go for your bandwidth, by buying top up cards. But I don't really know if they are cost effective. All he needs it for is email and a bit of word processing, and a bit of surfing (he's a martial arts instructor living in Edinburgh and does not have a phoneline in his house, but only checks his email a couple of times a day).
Can you get anything like this in PDA form, or would it be laptop only? Also, if his usage is pretty light, would something with GPRS suffice? |
