Default Traffic court question (s)
So a month back I was driving and flowing with traffic on a highway, I speeded up to 80MPH to pass a car, I was in a little hurry, but right when I hit 80, I slowed down and continued driving at 60ish mph, apparently that was too late and I got hit with a ticket of doing 80 in 55mph. So anyways now I have to appear in court. Such BS, as there was about no cars on the road and I was just trying to pass one car... anyways my court date is Dec 11, first off, is there any possible way to extend my court date to another day? I have lots of finals that day and cannot miss them. If so, how do I go about? Another thing, any tips on what to do in court? Most of my friends are saying offer to take driving class and they will drop the ticket. Thanks again onions. [thumbup]

Rescheduling your court date is something you would have to call them about. Notify the office that you have mandatory final exams and they may be nice enough to change it.

As for in court, just be respectful, plead guilty and apologize for your actions to the judge. If its your first offense, generally they give you a break. I had one ticket and with a guilty plea they reduced it to a moving violation (25$ instead of 120$)

Yes they will. In fact there is a good chance that you can change the court date and the officer will then not show up since the date was changed and you will just have to face a judge.

The officer won't be there anyways unless he contests the ticket. In which case he goes to trial and thats bad, because then the officer will remember you wasted his time, which usually turns into a scenario where *everything* wrong you do on the road gets noticed and unforgiven due to the fact you were trying to weasel your way out of a fine.

Look at the ticket.

Use the phone book

Use a different search engine. You know, google is not the only search engine in the world.
