The cheek of some people...
Found this on EBay
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Linux-the-wind...QQcmdZViewItem Someone selling Linux, Linux is free, ruddy thieves!http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/mad1.gif |
So report them. Its illegal to sell open source code for profit
|
|
Check his other auctions out. Looks like he is selling emulators and ROMs, and he is also selling a cd that contains Anti-Virus, Spyware, system utility programs, all of which seem to be free on the net.
|
He would probably say he's not selling the software, he's selling the discs that it comes on.
|
I just reported some ebay seller yesterday for selling pirated copies of Reason 3.0 (he even says in the auction that he´s selling backup copies on cdr),..
Kinda pissed me off. |
As if the fact he's trying to sell an open source OS isn't bad enough...
"IMMUNE TO VIRUSES AND SPYWARE!" Flat out straight up BS and lies. There are already Linux specific viruses that exist, and have for some time "No bugs, crashes or security problems" And again. Linux has plenty of bugs (any complicated software does), it's not immune to crashes, and again there's known and documented security issues. " This Operating system has been designed to resemble windows as closely as possible." No it hasn't. I suppose you could say that for Lindows, but not Linux in general. Sigh... I'm just gonna stop there. Preying on people's lack of knowledge is just... yeah... [thumbdown] [edit] lol, even some of his screenshots are from Windows In fact this one even says "Firefox 1.0.4 for Windows" |
Uh... That's Linspire (Lindows) and it's not free, you have to buy it.
Also, if selling open source software is illegal... Then how is it Linspire can charge you with their Click N Run (the whole basis of getting it to work) for free software? Quote:

And I know Click N Run is much more than just re-distibuting. You're still getting charged for applications though. There's some things you can get for free off of it, with most not being able to. All in all the thread should read my GNU quote. The guy, although to many immorally wrong, isn't doing anything legally wrong. |
