Default A+/N+/S+ Vs CCNP Vs MCSE
Which is the most recognised qualification?

IE: If applying for a job, which would be the most desired to have?

I currently have a good whack of qualifications and obviously want keep moving up the ladder. Eventually I want to do Prince2 training and management stuff but until then I need more Network/Server support qualifications to keep me ticking over, which is recommended?

I'm currently pricing up the Cisco stuff as I've heard the MCSE stuff is a bit overrated? ...

Who has them/wants them and whats your take?

I understand that, but a Network Administrator (in my eyes) should be fluent in both Networks and Servers. End of the day a Server is on a network, therefore the person in charge of that LAN should know how the network, servers and its clients work.

I'm qualified upto a certain point but wanna advance even more, just not sure which one to go for... I've read the course details of both but just want some first hand experience to give their input.

Red Hat, as in Linux?

I have no Linux systems on the network, at this moment I'd prefer to build my knowledge of stuff I currently use.

A+ is not very useful for a net admin, although more certs is always a plus. The big one i'd say you need is the CCNA/CCNP, followed by the MCSE. both are very important TBH.

Yea I'm leaning more towards the Cisco stuff, dont seem to hear anything bad about the qualifications. MCSE seems to have mixed reviews and from what I can see I'm above the A+ standard. But like you said, the more certificates in your portfolio the better, plus its only about £200 to complete the A+ exam.

I think the CCNP would be the best after getting the CCNA. The A+ is pretty weak with basic hardware and software and Network+ for basic networking. The MCSE i think is good but doest prove really how good you are at administation. I have someone that works with me now that is MSCE, but you can tell he just studied the testking and passed the tests. He has to be one of the weakest troubleshooters I have ever seen yet has the MCSE.

Just something to keep in mind for the future then. It will greatly improve your marketability.

Very true mate, since alot of other networks use Linux and we might venture that way with some stuff one day too. Thanks for the heads up.
