I am currently trying to put together a CV for my placement year (next year). The only problem i have come across is the personal statement! I cant seem to find the right words to sell myself?
I can find plenty of bad points about myself, but finding the good ones are hard.... Any points? Any tips? Any would be greatful |

Here's something I made up for you:
I am a quick learner with a keen interest in computers, both as a hobby and as a future career (I'm making this assumption here), and I'm eagerly looking forward to applying my [various aptitudes] (put a couple of key personality traits related to work here) in the pursuit of a fulfilling term of placement at (company). Take from it what you will. I don't know what a personal statement is but I'm guessing that the above is at least a decent start. |

In my first year of uni we had a personal tutor who helped us get into the swing of uni life, the standards of work etc, do you have someone similar? Any lecturer or seminar leader, talk to them, see what they say about you how you deal with tasks and work. You could probably pick something out of what they say.
At the end of the day, im sure you could probably just blag something nice, but make sure whatever you decide to put down, you can talk about. What we were told to do was see what we were applying for and tailor each statement towards that, see what they wanted, and somehow mention a task or skill that you had which would fit in their requirements. |
