Default For those of you who had milk this morning...
According to researchers, all cow's milk contains somatic cells, even though all producers do their best to keep levels to a minimum. So what are they? Unfortunately, 'somatic cells' is another name for pus.

Probably not the best thing to read in the morning, certianly enough to put you off milk for a bit!

I thought a somatic cell was just any cell that forms the body of an organism.

Somatic cell

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

(Redirected from Somatic cells)
Jump to: navigation, search
A somatic cell is generally taken to mean any cell forming the body of an organism: the word "somatic" is derived from the Greek word sōma, meaning "body".

Don't see anything about pus there. OK so it's only wikipedia, but I think I'll take that over MSN any day.

Pfft, they can leave it in for all I care. The best milk is always straight from the cow, chilled and into my mouth. Nothing like it.

I think some people are mis reading the article, I doubt they state somatic cells in the literal translations for pus cells, but that milk contains other cells (somatic cells as opposed to gametes) which are from the pus of a cow? Well, that was my understanding of it.

The article is worth reading in full for those that havent taken a gander.

More worryingly, milk has been linked to various types of cancer. Every product on this world is being linked to cancer nowadays.

Not hard to see why considering the amount of chemicals that go into products these days?

Any self-respecting animal-living vegetarian/vegan already knew that.

Odd that you would be concerned with drinking the pus of an animal you would happily gnaw into the flesh of.

Eat chicken? Chances are you've probably eaten a cyst. Especially with the quality of chicken at "local" chicken shops.

If you took notice of every scare story there'd been about food you'd never eat or drink anything! [rolleyes]
