Are you ****ing kidding me. Janeway was the worst captain ever. Picard, the best.
Picard was a terrible captain. He had no balls whatsoever.

While not a captain, Benjamin Sisko was the best commander of all.

Picard had hella balls. Intellectual balls.

Sisko was pretty awesome but his obsession with baseball pretty much makes me loathe that aspect of star trek: Every character has a anachronistic hobby that just...doesn't...make...any...sense.

Archer's was the best--he had an adorable pet beagle.

The fact that Picard was perfectly willing to needlessly let a sentient species go extinct because of some silly bureaucratic directive pretty much sums up his spinelessness as a commander.

Kirk encounters terrifying, hostile alien force: "Fire phasers!"
Picard encounters terrifying, hostile alien force: "Conference!"

The trials and expectations of Picard are not ****ing binary like they were with Kirk. Here is a flowchart of Kirk's decision process.

Can I **** it Y/N
If Yes: **** it.
If No: Fire Phasers.

He was a ****ing neanderthal in charge of a spaceship. And unsurprisingly the least interesting character on the ****ing bridge. I never was like "What is the deal with Kirk" other than his preoccupation with getting his dick wet or fighting aliens.

As for species, well, you win some, you lose some. If it were a cool species it would have developed means to protect itself /social darwinist
The one thing that is the guiding principle of the Prime Directive is that Picard, no federation officer is to decide who lives and dies as a race and civilization. It's like anti-Q rules.

Letting a planet get wiped out while you could do something about it is no better and no worse than marching each and every member of that species off to the gas chambers yourself.

How tired or drunk are you?
1.5 bottles of wine, but sober enough to know when a sodomite is doing God's work.

Ahh, so the enlightened federation should pretend to know what's best for every other species? Human's burden I guess.
Sorry, but when a bunch of people who are just as morally valuable as me are about to die, then yes, it is the white man's burden to save their primitive asses.
