I think its utter shite, but he did envision a lot of inventions we have today.

well I think a lot of things they knew back thousands of years ago got lost due to wars etc.. People still don't know exactly how the pyramids were built (aztec or egyptian) among many other things. I think in the high valleys of Bolivia they found stone structures (Puma Punku) that were perfectly cut (tons of rock) and seems like it was done with modern machinery. People weren't stupid back in the day. We underestimate their intelligence.

yeah Ive read about that before, made with tools that if were of the period would have been impossible to produce such accuracy, also the slabs slotted and interlocked together like a giant Lego building.

Most of the "modern" era science was lost because of religion. This is 100% fact.
However it wasn't fault of the Bible nor Koran. Just power hungry men abusing others in the cloak of religion.

I think you're missing his point - in wars there's the torching of conquered cities and slaughter of the people. As a result of those, and disease and climatic affects, the early orally passed on histories, traditions and information died out as the people who knew died - later, when records were made on paper scrolls, they would be burned. The classic case is the burning of the library of Alexandria (possibly accidentally).
Then there was the practice by some rulers that history started with them and who ordered destroyed any prior records - as at least one Chinese Emporer did - and others to destroy anything they didn't like or that contradicted their beliefs, etc.
Masters died before apprentices were taught their secrets, etc, and sometimes if something known didn't have a use, it may not have been even mentioned to later generations.

It's a load of complete crap. I imagined loads of things as a kid that only came into existence 20 years later. If one person imagines something, then loads more will have. He just had to wait longer for technology to catch up with his imagination than I did.

He understood the human progress and evolution.
Even in his times people made progress. He just knitted on and on and on on that capability of perception how humans 'work'.

The same did Nostradamous. But unlike DaVinci, he was less accurate and prodicted more doom like scenarios (i think?).

New technologies are born, but when they are born or discoverd, you never know what the maximum outcome will be for a civilasation to use it. (Higgs Boson?) (Capture light with 1 trillian FPS) (etc..) I believe some Science Fiction producers have some extend in knowing so and create a movie about it.

Aliens were never here and we can't look into the future either. It's all based on the human thrive to make progress and of what is possible today. That gives us an impulse to evolve.
