Don't rule out Mercedes with tyre wear. Cool conditions, so much less of an issue. We'll see next week in Bahrain whether they have cracked it or not.

If they haven't then races in Europe will tend to favour Mercedes much more than anyone else, whereas everywhere else would be McLaren I imagine. Very much an exciting season - could Lewis win the championship without a race win would be pretty awesome

They discussed that possibility on Sky. They said the only time a driver had come close to doing that was when Keke Rosberg won the Championship having won only one race.

As for the tyres, they have to cater for viewers who have never watched F1 before.
We've had it for a while though now, so I think it's enough. Every time you watch football, you don't get an explanation of what off-side is.

Good race weekend though. Good racing towards the end. Nice to see Merc can sustain pace throughout a race.

oh ffs, what the f was Lotus thinking?

Sure, 2 stops can work. But it can NOT work if you use 2 sets of softs and 1 of mediums [cursing]

I hadn't paid any attention on it earlier, and even some sites which report all tyre changes in the GP say Kimi was on mediums on the last stint, but picture tells more than thousand words

The quality is bad, but couldn't find better quality video on short notice to get better view on it - but even with such low quality you can see how Grosjean has the white (medium) tyres and Kimi the yellows (soft)

No wonder he last suddenly all the performance, 28 laps was far more than the soft tires were designed for, even the 20 laps he managed before losing performance was simply astonishing for softs.

Do they really have too though?

The % of people who have never watched F1 will be far fewer than those that have. And for someone who has never watched F1 before, does it really matter if they don't know about the different tyres? New viewers would be more confused about the teams and drivers, especially given they keep saying the wrong drivers names when things unexpected happen. Too much emphasis is put on tyres and strategy, which quite often the commentators get wrong anyway.

They do look like the softer tyre in that picture. I don't know if it's an illusion with the yellow on the car though. Everywhere I see say he finished on medium (harder) tyres like more other drivers.

The tire issue has been cleared, they were mediums, Lotus just had made some own markings to them with yellow, making them look yellow on moving car.

I don't know what you mean by that. Choice of tyres can make or break someone's race; the same with strategy.

Of course we need to be informed what tyres are on the car, we just don't need to be told why they make the difference because one wears out quicker than the other multiple times during a race!

It's patronising to most F1 fans IMHO really, especially when it's coming from a non former F1 driver.
