Default Sooo... who's getting the "new iPad"?
So that's it, huh, the new thing is out next Friday...

Any of you going to get one?

I'm unofficially getting one for my birthday ... so we'll probably grab it at the Westfield Stratford store. Can't wait for the queues... Although we won't go there on the first day.

Do the iStores actually risk running out of devices or have they coped with the demand the previous times?

I'll wait for the next Samsung tablet, I love the iPad 3 hardware but can't stand iOS anymore, space wasting.

I was lucky enough to get an HP Touchpad for $99.99. All I use it for is reading PDFs that are too long to print and playing solitare. I can't really find any other decent use for it. Any serious web surfing is much better done on a laptop.

Very tempted! I really like the hardware in it, and I can carry over my existing iPhone apps if I do.

A tablet is more comfortable for lounging around with.

Mine was picked up in Ontario, CA just this morning. I am hoping for an early delivery but I know it most likely won't happen.

I am glad they allowed pre-orders this time around so I can just go about my day and have it delivered to my desk.

Sold my iPad 2 64gb 3G to cover some of the cost of the new 64gb 4G version. Ordered it from the Apple site today, it won't be here until around 3rd Apr

I'm upgrading mainly for the high res screen and better GPU.

Mine shipped Friday but says, "hold for future delivery." It was shipped standard overnight and is expected for delivery Friday.

So is this iPad3 or just "the new iPad"? (Sort of iPad HD, because the upgrade isn't really that significant)

Exactly how I feel. I have a touchpad and it gets used while on the toilet more than anywhere else.

I just don't think tablets are that useful. I'm on my couch right now with the laptop playing music to my Onkyo over HDMI. Can't do that with any tablet. Yes there is an Onkyo app that I could play to it over DLNA but I can hear a quality loss and I don't have terabytes of storage on a tablet.....

No but they could at least put a half-decent front camera on it

my iphone 4 has a half-decent front camera,i doubt the ipad 3 doesnt have it. If by half-decent u mean state of the art studio photo camera than.....for sure the camera is half-decent.

Both the cameras on the iPad 2 are poor quality and take terrible photos. The front, I feel, is much more important as it's used for Skype / Facetime (which is something they market a lot). The rear camera is quite pointless because it's too awkward to take photos on it.

In the spec of the 'new iPad' they show how the rear camera is better quality but they haven't upgraded the front, it's still VGA. Though without a doubt they'll upgrade it on next year's.

If you're going to ask 'Why...?' then maybe ask that about everything of the iPad - why does it exist? Why the **** do people get excited over PhotoBooth?

I can understand a better quality back camera, but the front is fine on the iPad 2 for skyping. If you want professional level video conversations you use webex or its ilk, not a tablet.

Although, the high res screen of the iPad 3 might mean it needs a better quality camera to look OK.

I have never known anyone to take a photo with an iPad (why would you when you will have a much more portable device in your pocket?) so I don't think tablets need good cameras. They are a niche product and photography display is much more important for them than taking the pictures.

I agree, but I was hoping that I could get a better front camera for skype as in contrast, my PC's camera is far far better but I don't want to have to sit at my desk every time I use skype.
Though the iPad's front camera isn't so bad it's unusable - I was just hoping for improvement.
