I do not like the new forums

Just wanted to say it.

Way to compact, feels stuffed and uncomfortable.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it FM

well the posting vids option may be nice,
but i guess its a learn to like it thing.

Atm i´m missing the old forums http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/sad1.gif

Goalseexere 01-14-2012 08:24 AM

As with previous years, I'm with Golem. The video feature is the one that I've really missed in the past, everything else doesn't yet feel like an improvement. It looks cluttered, colour schemes are uglier than before, gonna take some time to get used to this.

I think the threads look a lot better once posted, but the thread creation (black title box) and everything else is indeed a bit cluttered

Kghyutgykim 01-14-2012 08:27 AM

Normal MadOnion theme (the one with purple polka dot background) seems okay for now, lol @ the Christmas smilies missing. :/

I was on the MadOnion scheme for months, probably longer. It looked better than what we've got now. Some stuff looks nice (thread lists, posts), some stuff looks horrible (chatbox), some stuff looks bad (post creation). It's a mixed bag at the moment. However, I'm already starting to get used to it though, which is surprisingly quick! http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ies/laugh1.gif

...and its no where near finished yet. It will get better....it was either put it live in this workable state, or no forums for longer....we thought the former was the better idea [yes]

That's what I thought, already. Good to know! [yes]

markphata 01-14-2012 08:37 AM

I have no qualms helping test it out, thanks for pushing it out asap.

This is the same for several large sites I know of, but I can't understand why you haven't used a staging server to get it right.

http://stagingdomain.futuremark.com - duplicate the db, duplicate the cms / forum install and then perfect it on that.

Elissetecausa 01-14-2012 09:30 AM

I like it except for that the main pages look a bit cluttered making them hard to read. The previous ones were pretty concise. However, I suspect you will fix it with time.

One thing I can't seem to find is a button similar to the user control panel (used to be on the top left) which showed me only posts that I have replied to if there were new replies.

It also showed any infractions underneath it.

we did develop on a different site to get this far, but at some point you have to install VB and import your work to the FM server and correct the parts of VB3 that you want to import on our server.

that's where we're at now, so please give us a day or 2, we're working hard at it.
Thanks to you and the team for getting this live as fast as you did, looking forward to seeing the final result. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/cool1.gif

Are you talking about this? This can now be found under Quick Links>Subscribed Threads at the top of the boards.

Thanks that's the one, just found it before you posted http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ies/blush1.gif

Would be great though if it was moved out of Quick Links and added to the rest of the bar for even quicker access like the old design had.

Its an updated picture of the original notebook icon.....amazing how people pick out the things that were pretty much the same as before http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ies/laugh1.gif I can see why, as it looks completely different, but it still makes me chuckle (no offence intended)
