Am I the only one.....
who does not really feel like its Christmas?
Don't get me wrong, - I've nothing against Christmas, - its just that this year for some reason I don't feel Christmasy (is that even a word?) at all..... |
Congrats, you've discovered its just another day.
|
agreed.. don't feel the vibe at all.. but I'm not really into all those get together holidays in the first place.. being forced to find gifts etc is a pain
|
Bah humbug, me neither. It was fine when the sister's kids were young, but now it seems a bit of a hassle, if anything.
However, it's the start of summer here, so the holiday is good for people getting away - although I usually prefered February, as Feb' and March are usually the hottest with the finest weather. |
I have a supersoaker full of piss ready for carol singers.

All you old farts and ebenezers!
Enjoy the Sunday, relax, have a beer (or many) and slow things down! [xmasthumbup][xmasbiggrin] |
Here is the deal, christmas is for children and females. You (as a male) get to the point where everything you want you have already bought for yourself, so the joy of opening presents just becomes a beating of fake smiles and praise. And it goes both ways, too. It is not as though I have a blast watching my older brother's wife open the lotion basket/itune gift card/generic gift card rotation I have her on either.
I would enjoy Christmas much more if it rightfully excluded adults from the present pool, and focused only on the children's gifts. Barring a sports car with a bow, there really isn't much wow factor left in a wrapped box to me. I would much prefer getting nothing for Christmas, than having to endure another year of fake smiling and my life forced being drained while waiting in line to buy a present I already know is a courtesy and not something they will want or need. While this is a common guy view of christmas, for your own sake just endure. If you do try and challenge/ change the way of things be prepared for the women around you to accuse you of trying to ruin christmas. It is really hard to ruin something that effectively is nothing more than the trading of gift cards among the adults. Such traditions must endure, i tell ya! |

So far this year, I have bought my nephews computers for their bikes. And that's all. Personally, I think Xmas is way to commercialized. So I really don't buy gifts for people, but I will still partake in things like the family dinner, etc. |

If I worked in a job which paid me all of the above, I would always choose to work. Only reason I'm working now is because boss was desperate, literally begged me because everyone else had left, and because I am a casual i run the risk of losing my job if I say no. |

Well, considering my family just had our annual Christmas blowup (courtesy of an off-cuff smart-ass remark I unwittingly made -- yay me), I would say **** YES it feels like Christmas, and Jesus Christ does it suck. [no] I long for summer. |

Good news is that now you don't have to be nice to the rellies for another year http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/cool1.gif |
Well, Christmas dinner is over in the dangermoose household. Long standing traditions were upheld....
My father was drunk before lunchtime, although this year he surpassed himself by putting prunes in the pigs in blankets instead of sausages. The in-laws were as well behaved as usual, although it's considered a result if none of them actually crap on the carpet. My brother in law and I played a bit of shot glass FIFA and ended up singing for everyone. Badly. The only really good bit for me is giving my niece and nephew presents. |
Only two of us here today, and I cooked dinner. We had out big family get together at a hotel restaurant last week, so today we just had roast beef, cooked nice and rare.
