This is one of those movies that has me excited. I've always wanted to see more on the Alien Lore, especially dealing with the Jockey's. There just isn't a whole lot about them, even in the books.

Its been removed as an Alien prequel. Its a stand alone movie now. Though a few scenes are very Alien like. Even if its no longer a prequel, Alien's influence is all over this movie so I'm sure there will be tons of easter egg like things in it.

I read something which Ridley Scott said which I got the impression the Jockey isn't an alien http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/cry1.gif

Is this based in the "Alien" universe? Cause I swear I saw a Space Jockey...

I wasn't assuming it was a prequel, but it does take place in the Alien universe. That was definitely a Space Jockey ship. I don't know if it's the same ship that appears in the first Alien movie, but it's definitely part of the Alien Lore.

It was once a prequel but it was rewritten not to be. As far as it taking place in the alien universe I see tons of references. I see the space jockey but fox and Ridley say its not. I thought I saw the chair and a head in the trailer. The face cave with all of the egg like things is alien like too.

But once again fox and Ridley say its unrelated. I really don't care if it is or not. I wanna see it anyways.

Once again, I never said anything about it being a prequel.

The movie "Alien" and the movie "Predator" don't have anything to do with each other, but we know they take place in the same universe.

And did you read that link you posted?

As for what this film will be about, Scott explains that his imagination allowed him to get creative with the bigger picture of the Alien mythology, seemingly hinting that this may be some sort of spin-off. “While ‘Alien’ was indeed the jumping off point for this project, out of the creative process evolved a new, grand mythology and universe in which this original story takes place. The keen fan will recognize strands of ‘Alien’s’ DNA, so to speak, but the ideas tackled in this film are unique, large and provocative. I couldn’t be more pleased to have found the singular tale I’d been searching for, and finally return to this genre that’s so close to my heart.” That's just what I was saying. It's not part of the same story ark, but it is part of the Alien Lore.

In the bonus materials of the special edition Alien DVD, director Ridley Scott has expressed the opinion that a film exploring the backstory of the Space Jockey would be an interesting new direction for the series to take. http://images.cheezburger.com/comple...f520b5d476.jpg
