Default Workphone, help needed.
Hi guys,

So my boss decided to let me have a workphone.

As you know I'm photographer so it should have good (!) screen. Camera specs don't matter to me at all. Good browser. blaablaablaa...

Should I wait for the Nokia windows phones to come available? Windows is in our work computers so it should be easy to sync etc.

Have a look at the Google Galaxy Nexus if the screen is an important feature imho!

If you're a photographer, perhaps you should look for something with some form of colour correction - so if you have to view images from a client, or whatever, you'll know exactly what they want?

You'd want one with a screen as big as possible and also with the highest resolution possible.

I point you towards the Galaxy Nexus, I used it for ages on Saturday and the screen is incredible. No expandable media though if storage is your concern as well.

Besides that, there are a few other phones with the same kind of screen, maybe a Galaxy Note ? 5.3" 720p screen ?

Android and iOS are the easiest phones to link to Exchange. You will have problems getting Win Mobile 7 to link if your IT guys haven't setup the exchange server per MS guidelines (and a lot of people don't).

I would check out the iPhone 4s and Samsung Nexus. The iPhone has by far the best battery life of the current gen phones, but the Samsung has a bigger screen.

I wouldn't think so. My friend who is a typical heavy user (especially in the first week of owning a new phone) is getting unreal battery life from his Galaxy Nexus.

I'm not saying it has best battery life out there but to claim that the 4S has significantly better battery life is not reasonable.

We use Gmail as our mailservice. Mainly used through browser.

So it's iPhone 4s versus Nexus?
I have to say I like the WinMo 7 look a lot.
But I know that it's a bit lacking compared to competitors...

If there's a possibility for this then hell yes thank you please can I have it now. [yes]

Both iOS and Android (naturally) integrate very well with Google's services
iOS guide: http://support.google.com/mobile/bin...&answer=138740

Windows Phone 7 works OK with Google's services but there are some issues.

I'd consider the iPhone and Galaxy Nexus over the Nokia Lumia 800 but all three should be good enough.

Not my thing - I've a budget pre-paid - but there seems to be a few app's around.
Not sure what would suit but perhaps these may help?
Just links that were suggested, but may help deciding if one is of any use to you?

Except that there's no native gtalk app for iOS (if he uses gtalk), I have to use ebuddy which is horrible.

He also specified that he'll be using it to view photos sometime so it might be a good idea to get a phone that doesn't have a miniscule 3.5" screen.

The biggest advantage might be that with android phones he can connect other usb devices to it as a host.

So we ordered the "midway" cellphone.

Galaxy Nexus coming, hopefully this week.

All expenses paid. (Internet and calls)

Congrats. You're going to love that screen and don't dare to turn the brightness to anything over 50%.

Can't see that being very handy - a 5 foot 3 inch screen doesn't fit many pockets...

OP, any of the links I gave any good?

USB host you say?

So I could potentially transfer photos from camera to that?

Have to try Photoshop Express and see what it can do.

Well, that's the function of USB Host. ICS Supports it but I think that you need to use a modified kernel on the Nexus to support it, not sure.

Let me ask my Galaxy Nexus owning friend.

He just confirmed, a modified kernel needs to be used but it might be enabled properly in a future software update.

I don't know what kind of pants you wear, but it shouldn't really be any problem. The phones beautiful large screen as well as the great battery life and great specs are certainly worth a look. Also the phone's screen takes up most of the demisions so it's not much bigger than a 4'6" phone with bigger borders.

it has also gotten really positive reviews..

Yeah, it depends on the person.

I was considering it but I want a native ICS phone with those awesome on screen buttons so I'm still waiting. Maybe Galaxy S3 early next year.

I'd say nine inches is quite a big difference...
