A woman has appeared in court after a video apparently showing a passenger abusing ethnic minority people on a south London tram was posted online.

Emma West, of New Addington, Croydon, was accused of a racially/religiously aggravated intentional harassment.

The 34-year-old was remanded in custody while reports are prepared.
locked up awaiting trial.

America has just under 5x the polulation of the UK yet it is 37x the size....

I think the UK is overpopulated and letting such a MASSIVE amount of people in is jsut ridiculous....

I suppose we cant just deport people now they are here but we should seriously cut back on the amount of people we let into the country.... The reason it annoys me is because they come to our country then claim benifits which is payed for with UK RESIDENTS tax money.... As a result UK residents then suffer by cuts to things like pensions and NHS service etc. to pay the housing benifit or child support benifit for imigrants!!

If we were insulting our government that would be fine, but going out of your way to insult racial groups with intent to sway others to your view is frowned upon. For something akin to what was shown in the video, I think a slap on the wrist would have been in order until it went viral. I can only imagine what the BNP would be like without this law.

Cute, but it's not like your freedom of speech is unlimited either. a law against inciting racial hated is fair in my eyes. Most of the limits are sensible, when you grant a freedom you have to trust it won't be abused you can't see every contingency, when it gets abused you have to choose between denying that freedom or limiting it.
