GM challenges ford due to ford running its mouth about its new crustang and ford backs down. [yes] ZL1 0 to 60 is 3.9 seconds. 444hp Mustang Boss 302 0 to 60 in 4.0seconds. It pulls 0.98g ZL1 1/4 mile is 12 seconds flat, Mustang Boss 302 is 12.3 seconds. So, lets add 200hp and 220torques to the Mustang Boss 302, try to be able to keep the same handling performance/breaking if not improve it and I can see why Ford wouldn't want to embarrass the Feds I mean Government Motors, I mean General Motors. IRS would be all up Ford's a$$hole digging for dirt. ![]() |

I'm sure GM would get their but kicked. GM has spent extensive amounts of time tuning nearly all of their cars at the 'Ring recently and thankfully the results have shown up in the production cars. In nearly all of the tests the Camaro has out-handled the Mustang when comparing equal trim levels for the current generations. The Camaro and Firebird have always been upscale and larger counterparts to the Mustang. You can actually fit adults in the back of the Camaro and Firebirds for the 2nd through 4th generations. I've never been in the back of a Camaro, but I imagine I could fit there. The Mustangs however are a very tight squeeze. |

Could be he wasn't prepared to make the cal for the corporation to race GM at a trck they'd been doing a lot of work at but Ford would be going in cold.
I'd like to see a variety of comparisons, stock - like 1/4 mile, standing mile, top speed, braking, handling (slalom, lane change, large and small "G" circle, etc) and on a selection of different tracks. I'd expect each car to have different strengths in different events. Oh, and effective fuel range - handy to know when you're running for state lines ![]() |
