I'm sure GM would get their but kicked.

ZL1 0 to 60 is 3.9 seconds. 444hp Mustang Boss 302 0 to 60 in 4.0seconds. It pulls 0.98g
ZL1 1/4 mile is 12 seconds flat, Mustang Boss 302 is 12.3 seconds.

So, lets add 200hp and 220torques to the Mustang Boss 302, try to be able to keep the same handling performance/breaking if not improve it and I can see why Ford wouldn't want to embarrass the Feds I mean Government Motors, I mean General Motors. IRS would be all up Ford's a$$hole digging for dirt.

With the rivarly being what it is between the two, Ford would have stepped up to the plate if they were sure they would win. Being that they didn't it means that they have reasonable doubt that could lose.

GM has spent extensive amounts of time tuning nearly all of their cars at the 'Ring recently and thankfully the results have shown up in the production cars.

In nearly all of the tests the Camaro has out-handled the Mustang when comparing equal trim levels for the current generations. The Camaro and Firebird have always been upscale and larger counterparts to the Mustang. You can actually fit adults in the back of the Camaro and Firebirds for the 2nd through 4th generations. I've never been in the back of a Camaro, but I imagine I could fit there. The Mustangs however are a very tight squeeze.

Not sure your sources, but 2 of the main ones I look at say otherwise. Caranddriver and motortrend.

Unless your talking nuremburg ring tests, which I hope are stock off the lot cars that can still be comfy to drive on public roads.

Not sure about the 'ring, but I'd like to see the Boss 302 and the ZL1 battle around Laguna Seca...I think Ford would have the edge on that course, even with the power disadvantage, seeing as they pretty much built the Boss for that track.

Yes, I'm referring to the actual road course tests. Motortrend and Road & Track are horrible about actually testing cars on a real track. Half of their "handling tests" are nothing more than basic figure 8 and the standard battery of independent tests. Only the Halo cars and Supercars get the road course test treatment.

Could be he wasn't prepared to make the cal for the corporation to race GM at a trck they'd been doing a lot of work at but Ford would be going in cold.

I'd like to see a variety of comparisons, stock - like 1/4 mile, standing mile, top speed, braking, handling (slalom, lane change, large and small "G" circle, etc) and on a selection of different tracks. I'd expect each car to have different strengths in different events.

Oh, and effective fuel range - handy to know when you're running for state lines
