Why hasn't anyone commented on how ***** the Marines "combat readiness test" sounds? It sounds easier than any high school football practice; only an invalid like Albie would fail to pass it... 2) I did not fail the Marine CFT. I actually never took an official CFT but I have no reason to expect that I would do anything but score well. I ran 880 yard dashes in gear within the time required and can do the ammo can press easily for a max score. 3) It probably is easier than a football practice. It's a test. It's designed to see where someone stands using a scoring system and is NOT training (a perfect 300 on the CFT is a much different beast than just passing the test, by the way) And Drake, Canada uses Crossfit. Crossfit Used to Train Soldiers for Combat Suck it, Drake. Suck it hard like you swallow KH's ****. |

This is part of the Marine CFT. This is a test with a scoring system. The faster you do it, the better your score, so the goal is to do it quickly.
This is the maneuver under fire portion: The goal of the above is to be finished in 2:14 That Marine is tired because that portion is the 3rd event in sequence. You start with an 880 yard sprint in boots, rifle, and 782 gear (goal pace for men is 2:45) then 30lb ammo can press for reps. The can must pass below the chin and be extended to full lock out at the top. Goal is 91 presses in 2 minutes. You then do the above maneuver under fire. It is not intended to be some crazy ass-kicking nor training. It is a test to see where Marines stand. A perfect score is the goal, not to simply pass. *by the way, his pushups after the grenade throw were pretty bad. Those should not have counted. |

You probably know how pushy Army recruiters are. Literally beating down the door to talk to you. I got a call from one (an officer recruiter) a few months back. I'm not sure how he got my number If you actually want to serve your country or whatever. They are basically the same, as we've said. |

I bet none of you had any opinions on the Marine Corps until you decided to **** with me. I see how it is. ![]() And Darius, Drake is very anti-Crossfit. He has talked **** about it on numerous occasions (in the workout thread, the college football thread when a school had players afflicted with rhabdomyolysis, etc.). Crossfit might not even be mentioned but if it sounds remotely like Crossfit to Drake, he makes a comment like "Stupid Crossfit nonsense". |

No one is used to make landings on a beachhead anymore. Too irrelevant. B) Even in the unlikely event that we're in a conflict in the foreseeable future that requires troops to do what the name "marine" implies, a portion of the Army can be trained to do just that, just like a portion of the non-special-forces Army go through the airborne course. You don't see airborne divisions being a part of the Department of the Air Force merely because planes carry them, do you? Then why are marines so different? Bullshit addiction to romantic notions of an honorable tradition, nothing more. |
