i have played bay harbor over 10 times..i just didn't list it as the best course i've played...it's nice, but not the best. in michigan, for public, IMO nothing beats arcadia bluffs
So 2 other guys on this small board have played Bar Harbor too, that is amazing to me. I wish I had the chance to play it again. Maybe, from the comments, I am overhyping it. I do know that it was a big suprise, I was simply looking for a round. Maybe the shock of how good the course was clouded my mind. That has happened before, where I'll go back and think differently about a course.

But I've played hundreds of courses over the years so my sampling isn't small.

Couple of comments:

I've played Kiva Dunes as well, and it was a great course for sure. From what I've seen on TV Whistling Straits looks like it may be one of the best courses I will ever see,. I couldn't stop talking about it the day after the PGA (was that the major?) a few years ago.

Finally that is amazing that someone else has played Bay Harbor. My grandmother lived very close, in Charlevoix. This is the town my mom grew up in. Sadly my grandmother is gone and I honestly don't see the possibility of ever going to Charlevoix, or Bay Harbor, again.
Yeah, I think whistling was the PGA championship.

Turned on the tube today and saw senior US open is being played there now

My wife's sister is a state senator. She has male connections in government, obviously. It was her birthday gift to me a few years back. The course itself was absolutely gorgeous, no doubt...but I really had a bit of a hard time enjoying it because it was so god damned terrifyingly hot. I ended up playing the entire round with one of those horseshoe coolers from Sharper Image and I was still dying.
So your Sis in law is Carol Moseley-Braun or Nia Gill

Damn Gresh...

Ima gonna be knocking on your door soon...

The miniature course at CJ Barrymores is to die for.

Although there's one in Daytona, FLA that rivals it.

Well, not quite (though it wouldn't really be hard to find the connection since you already know who I am). I typed in senator, you're gonna wanna look at legislators.

Ive been blessed to play a lot of nice golf courses, Each one has its own qualitites to it that i love. Ive played Olympic Club in SF When i was a lot younger. Lincoln and Harding Park are 2 of my favs because of the old feel to it. Any of the courses on the 17 mile drive in Monterey are great but my fav are Spyglass and Pebble the only course out there i hadn't played is Cypress point. PGA Stadium in Palm Desert was a lot of fun as was La Quinta Mountain. My family used to go on vacation a lot in the desert. So ive frequented out there as well...Locally i either play at Green Valley C.C. or Hiddenbrooke (Which used to host the LPGA Samsung WC for a bit until the ladies complained because it was too hard)...

Cypress is absolutely "the one" to play down there. You should make a pilgrimage.

I would love to but its up there with Augusta, in terms of difficulty to get on. You need to know a member and then be lucky enough for them to allow a guest on that day otherwise, No dice. Theres very few golf courses my Old pro couldn't get me on, but that was definitely one of them...Ive had one opportunity once but i was out of the area and couldn't make it. Which really sucked. 15 and 16 are probably my favorite holes in all of golf. TPC at Sawgrass 17 is a close 3rd. Ive played a replica at the Stadium Course in La Quinta but its never the same...These are my non-Augusta fav holes. As playing any hole at Augusta would be like Heaven on earth in a golfing sense...

If you have to get permission to get in what is the waste in standing in line?
