Gawd guys, its simple. He does not want to take the trash out. Jeesh.

If he is truly a guy, he is clutter blind and doesn't even notice the trash there. We all do it! Pay attention next time your wife leaves laundry on the stairs. You will step right over it and not even realize it until you are up the stairs. You will sit down and then think, "why did I step so awkwardly?"
