I'm not always a fan of it....it's a mental hang up with me that I can't seem to shake

Most of the time we have 2 or 3 playing with us, but there has been times when we have just 2 and we get grouped with another pair, I really enjoy it when they guys are cool and they have the right manners, but there has been times when I have been with a pair and they hit numerous balls off the tee and even after that, and it will hold up play, I like to keep a steady pace myself, I can understand where your coming from Coachfrizz, maybe you were just paired this time with some bad people, but I have experienced both sides, mostly they are enjoyable and you do get to meet new peopel but there ar times where you just want to play ahead or just ring their necks and ask what the H*** are you doing...

I like it and will even ask people if they want to play together if I see another single or twosome on a busier day. Helps keep the pace and my experiences have always been positive. I met a couple older gals last year that I'd make my regular playing partners any day.

Generally it doesn't bother me at all, as long as they are down to earth and respectful i'm good to go.

I just started golfing 4 years ago, so for a while I was that single that got put with other people when the course got busy. I've met a great bunch of people at the course now, so I have about 25 guys I normally get to go out with, and sometimes we get the extra single or twosome depending on the situation. Always someone new out there, and for the most part, they are welcome to join us again in our groups. Only had 2 people I'd really rather not golf with again, and one is a member there...and they make him go out as a single.

I never mind being matched up. Met some thoroughly nice people this way. Unfortunately, I don't have any really interesting stories like others have shared. I love reading them, though.

I play better when I'm not a single. I think the "competition" makes me slow down and think things through more.

I had an experience where I was paired with an older gentleman who had retired from General Motors and despite the age difference 35-40 years, we had a fascinating conversation about golf and life. He taught me the flop shot and destroyed me with a smile. He seemed like a great guy and was a pleasure to golf with.

I'm always hoping I get paired with a young single school teacher but she hasn't found her way out to the course yet, haha.

I started playing this game about 5-6 years ago and couldnt name a golfer besides Tiger and Phil. My 3rd year of playing, I had begun to watch golf alot, so I was really getting serious about the game.

I got off work early on a random Tuesday. Went to the course nearby work that my cousin works at. (Kinloch - VA). So he sets me up as a single around 10:00am. There is another single waiting on the 1st tee box and asks if I want to join. I am not good at the time and lucky to shoot 90. This guy has a staff bag and I am beyond nervous cause I dont want to hold him up. I explain to him that I am new to the game and would probably slow his round down. He didnt care, and said come on.

After a few decent holes... bogey golf through the first 4... he is -3 through the first 4. We get to talking and come to find out we graduated from the same high school in Chesterfield Virginia. Long story short... it was none of than PGA Tour Pro John Rollins. He was as nice as they come and offered several tips for my golf game that I hold on to. I ended up shooting 86 that day and he ended up shooting 65 that day. It was an absolute joy.
