I need to wear a polo, and it has to be tucked in. If Im my shirt is freely moving as much as I am I get all jacked up because I feel things twist against my body.

The collar makes someone less free of movement? Because outside of that, golf shirts are available in many different materials and cuts, so frankly the only difference would be the collar and I am not sure how that constricts.

If the course allows it, go nuts. My course allows just about anything, and I kinda like the laid back atmosphere.

I want to get some nice, moisture wicking shirts similar to what Ben Hogan wore.

I'm going to have to agree with a lot of what JB is saying here. There's no reason with how the shirts are made to do they should be at all restricting. Todays technology is nothing like the old cotton polos and for me a collared shirt is tradition like Damaikis said.

I live in T shirts as they are very comfortable, and shorts most of the year. That said, I feel more comfortable in a polo shirt (especially when it is hot and muggy out) and dress shorts (Bermudas, Dockers, etc) while playing golf. Also, some courses around here allow jeans also...............not comfortable playing in them either, even though outside of golf, if I am not in shorts I am in jeans.

The clothing that you wear in any given situation shows the level of respect you have for that situation.Would you wear shorts and a polo to a funeral?I wouldn't.Shorts and a t-shirt to a job interview?
A polo and shorts are the accepted clothing for the course.Show respect and waer them. The Course that I play allows almost anything, but I still wear a collared shirt no matter what.

Golf is a sport, but it is not like any other sport. How many other atheletes have you seen in other sports report themselves for accidently violating a rule?
If you want respect show respect.
Well said!

I own golf shirts that I believe are better material for "humid" than that of a baseball player's uniform. And last time I checked, the Yankees weren't sporting "jorts" on the diamond. I am in full support of the "dress code" for professional golf, well...because they are professionals and I like them to look that way.
I'm not even sure how to say this.... but I'm talking about weekend golfers... golfers who wants to have fun on the course.

Yeah my Polo is one size bigger. Still I don't like wearing them during Golf.

I like to have fun on the course and I wear polo shirts. I'd sweat through a tshirt during the summer months. Also, most courses here require a collared shirt.

Simple answer to being what you think is constricted whilst swinging is get a better fit of shirt or simply a larger size. What you must remember is that t-shirts, by their very nature no matter if you spend $10 or $80 on it, they are not in anyway fitted to your shape or size as they are made to be functional rather than pretty and good fitting.
