Short version last line.
Looked it up online and on the forum and can't find what I'm looking for. When I have trouble reading a green, I do a push-up (easier than whatever Camillo does lol) to get a very low view of the putt. I find it helps a lot, especially for putts that move very little. I golfed with a guy today who said it might be illegal because I'm touching 4 points on the green at the same time (doesn't Villegas???), then changed his mind and said it only breaks a rule if anything but hands or feet touch the green (can't put a knee down?). I can't imagine doing a push-up behind your ball or on the rough behind it is illegal, but it brought up an interesting question somebody asked me once; he was older and had trouble reading putts but can't hold himself up like that or bend his knees enough to get lower, so would it be illegal just to lay on the ground behind the putt to get a similar read? I don't know how laying down and then getting back up would be better than a crouch, but am unsure of the answer. So, can you lay on your chest behind a ball to read a putt? |
