Did you guys decide that was enough wind to try to keep the ball down or did you mainly decide to take your regular shot? I think we rarely see enough wind up here to make you want to change your shot. That flag looked pretty bent over though.
Going into the wind, I tried to hit some lower shots to keep the ball out of the wind, I had varying success with that. I think that it's actually fun to hit little punch shots by taking a lot more club and hitting it low, but it was still hard to figure out how much to club up for those shots.

Downwind, I had some weird approach shots where I thought the ball was going to fly farther because it was downwind, but when the ball was in the air it looked like the wind knocked it down, it was weird. Also, the wind was swirling all day, made it tough to figure out the exact direction of the wind.

Glad you guys had so much fun, I know I had a great time playing with Spaceman_Spiff last Friday even with the 40 mph winds and can't wait to meet about 10 more THP'ers next weekend for 2 days of golf.

That sounds like a fun time. Glad you enjoyed playing in the wind, because I usually do not. Perhaps the company of a fellow THPer makes it more enjoyable.

Ten! That should be a blast...can't wait to hear about it. :-)

It wasn't that I enjoyed playing in the wind so much as I enjoyed playing with Ary. :-)

Thanks Mary! We did have fun...and had the course to ourselves...quite strange!

I wanted to bump this thread because Sean and I got together again at his club, Harmon Golf and Fitness Club (http://www.harmongolf.com/). It's a great facility that has everything you would want in a golf facility: a 9-hole course with narrow fairways and fast greens, a 9-hole "short course" (all holes under 100 yards), huge grass driving range, short game area, and a fitness center.

We played the 9-hole course twice and had a great time. After today, I see the reason why Sean was victorious in a match play tournament earlier this year: the guy makes putts from EVERYWHERE! None of the longer putts that he made were lucky either, they all had perfect pace on them, it was an impressive display. Sean is a little upset that he can't take part in his club championship this weekend, but it's doctor's orders. :-) My ball-striking wasn't very good on the first nine holes as I was a bit intimidated by the narrow corridors out there, but I improved on the back nine as I geared my swing down and focused on hitting fairways and greens.

I'm meeting some other THPers this weekend for another outing, can't wait for that as well.

Thanks Ary!

Ary has a very nice swing...very smooth...and he generates a lot of club head speed. He chipped in a couple of times from off the green and once he got the speed down putted very nicely as well. He's a lot of fun to play golf with and I'm very happy I had the opportunity to play golf with him again today. Those of you in The Morgan Cup will find him a very engaging gentleman and a good golfer. :-)
