Default Best handicap tracking system
First off I am sorry if I am duplicating something, I couldn't find the information I wanted off of a search of the forum so here goes.

I want to start tracking my handicap online because I will not be playing in a league this year so I will no longer be able to hand in scorecards to the guy who ran the league, and I was looking for THPers experience in this area to guide me to the right website, app or software.

The obvious is, give me a suggestion based off or your experience or what you use. I really would like to know the benefits of what you use too, like: Can you track other stats? How easy is it to use? Do/can you track on your smartphone? Is there and App for that? and anything else I missed!

Thanks for your help in advance!

I use Fairway Files (fairwayfiles.com). Tracks things like: HC, putts, GIR, FW, breakdown of pars/birdies/bogeys per round, etc. It's free and works fairly well IMO.

Fairway Files or OOB, there are THP groups on both sites.

Fairway files is a popular choice around here.

I use OOB golf. They have all the same stats, and even more if you are willing to pay for them (I am not).
I think it is just a matter of personal preference as they are both quality programs.

Typically you can join any local USGA member association club for $20-$30. Then you can use GHIN handicapping.

I'm a HUGE fan of golf-specialist.net. Really thorough scorekeeping, and they give you a one-year free trial.

+2. Every league I have ever played in, everyone had to have a "official" index. Most all of the online systems don't make the grade.

If you take this route, get your ghin number then register at ghin.com for egolfer. Log in to egolfer and you will have the option of entering scores HBH (hole by hole), turn on advanced scoring and you will be able to enter putts, fairways, GIR, Sand Saves, Up&Down, Penalty shots, and Drive distance. The site generates a number of reports and charts. All this is available at no additional cost.
