Default How far do you hit 3 wood?
Hello all,
My stock pitching wedge is 125, 8 iron 150. I hit my 3 wood 230 or so. Does that sound weak to you too? My swing speed is 98-99 with driver.

sounds about right, but more important would be your distance gaps between your 3 wood and driver, and 3 wood and your next longest club. As long as those are inline your good to go.

If I really catch one I can hit three wood in the 275-280 range. But in general its more around 250-260. Driver swing speed is 112. So I'd say you aren't far off.

i play my three wood between 210-220. every once in a blue moon i can get it stretched out to 230 but that's rare. your numbers seem close. based on driver ss you could get a few more yards out of your three wood.

I'd say my average 3 wood is in the 230-240 range - stretch it to maybe 260 or so if it's that once in a great while perfect contact shot.

By comparison, my PW is only good for about 100-105, 8i is about 125 or so. But my driver SS is usually around 106 mph. Gotta love my super high ball flight with the irons

i have the same iron game. uber short iron distances compared to my driver distance. i'm sure it has nothing to do with my swing flaws.

i usually hit my 3w about 240-245, if i stand on it, maybe i can get it out there about 255 but it's one of my most accurate clubs off the tee. i like that.

230 doesn't sound weak to me really. 230 down the middle sounds great to me all day.

I wouldn't complain about that at all.

Welcome to another from MA. You need either 10 or 15 (I forget which) posts and then you'll be able to edit your signature under settings at top right.

Doesn't sound bad to me. I'm about 220 off the deck and 230 when I tee it up.

I've hit it in the 230 range, but normally around 200 - 210.

Your iron numbers match up with me almost exactly. There's nothing wrong with your 3 wood distance if you ball is consistently in play. If you're wanting more out of your 3 wood you might look into getting fit and changing the shaft in the club.

That sounds like the right relative distances too me.

As far how far I hit one,,,,, good question. PW=130, 8 iron=150.

I switched from a Ping i3 to a Nike Dymo2 2 years ago. Ping=240-260, Nike=220-230. But the Nike was much more forgiving and accurate. Looking to switch again as that is too short for a 3 wood for me.
