Default Anyone Feel like LOTR Trivia?
Lord of the Rings- If so, feel free to post questions! Here are mine:

1. What significant character was left out of LOTR- The Fellowship of the Ring?

2. In the movie Return of the King, how were the post war events misrepresented regarding the Shire?

3. How was the participation of The Dead (Dead Men of Dunharrow) misrepresented in the movie Return of the King?

Sauruman & WormTongue had enslaved the Shire. Wormtongue murders Sauruman

Both right. Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays (if you prefer)!

I think this is the only fantasy movie I've seen where the wizards hardly cast any spells. My favorite Middle Earth location is Beorn's Farm in the Hobbit. No surprise to the observant.

They wern't green in the book.

My questions - Why does Frodo get all the credit when Sam is the real hero who keeps saving his arse?
Why didn't the eagles just fly Frodo to mount doom when they could easily take down the Nazgul and Sauron, lets face it, does fuck all violent himself, in it?

It's possible that whomever carried the ring for a long period of time would have suffered like Frodo did. So if Sam had been carrying the ring, Frodo would have been saving him, maybe.

Good point about the Eagles, but maybe that would have been contrary to keeping the ring secret? Maybe if the ring approached in this manner it would have been easily intercepted? Who knows, it's a story, dude.

Brian Blessed would have made a great Tom Bombadil.
He was my second favorite peripheral character in the series. The first was Borne.

A lot of LOTR, especially the shire was based on the landscape in the village where Tolkien lived then though a lot of it is all swallowed up by Birmingham suberbs now.

Why didn't the eagles just fly Frodo to mount doom when they could easily take down the Nazgul and Sauron
Holy crap! I forgot, I found this last week, someone, independantly on youtube came to the same conclusion!

It's been speculated that the dead marshes were based on Tolkien's experience of seeing dead men on the field of battle.

When Sam said to Frodo 'One more step and this is the farthest I've ever gone from home', what was there behind him?
