Most have one or two grams of carbohydrate from sugar alcohols. The jury is still out on whether or SA effect blood sugar. Some diabetics who test say they increase blood sugar in their bodies. Others report no change. To be safe, it's customary to count 1/2 of the sugar alcohol carbohydrate grams. Of course, it's completely up to you whether you do this or not.
Sugar substitutes in the packets ARE 1g each. The artificial sweetener in them is carb free... but the filler they use HAS carbohydrate. Count each packet as one gram. Liquid artificial sweeteners are zero. |

If you chew one piece a day... or a couple per week, it probably won't effect your efforts much at all. If you're one of those people who chew PACKS a day, that could certainly effect your wt loss. Remember, even if you aren't actually eating sugar, if your tongue gets a sweet signal it will trigger a sugar response in your body. Chewing sweet tasing gum all day is just asking for trouble.
