So i'm moving on to OWL now, because I seriously need some more interesting food after some 2 months on induction. :P
There's a few things i've been thinking about. 1) When I am done losing weight, and I know how many carbs I can eat a day to keep my weight, won't I have to look out for not eating too much fat? 2) I've got a bag of peanuts here that says 3g net carbs per 100g lots of protein, lots of fat, is that for real? Seems like a great atkins snack. I love peanuts, I thought I was deprived of treats like that for life. 3) I've been missing bread so much lately, i'm too lazy to actually bake it, is there any type of dark bread that is eatable, say for one meal a day (breakfast) that you can buy in the stores / baker? |

Yes... as you add back carbs you need to balance it by reducing the fat. You'll never have to suffer with low fat again, but you will need to pay attention to serving sizes and use common sense/moderation. 2) I've got a bag of peanuts here that says 3g net carbs per 100g lots of protein, lots of fat, is that for real? Seems like a great atkins snack. I love peanuts, I thought I was deprived of treats like that for life. Nuts/legume (peanuts are actually legumes, not nuts) are on the list for OWL. The biggest issue with nuts/peanuts is portion control. Count them out and stick with ONE serving per day. Good luck with that. 3) I've been missing bread so much lately, i'm too lazy to actually bake it, is there any type of dark bread that is eatable, say for one meal a day (breakfast) that you can buy in the stores / baker?[/quote] Grains are not usually added in OWL. They are on the OWL carb ladder... but most people don't get that high before their weight loss stalls. Grains are a "once in a blue moon" maintenance item. If you want to find a way to eat bread/nuts, consider checking out the South Beach Diet. You're describing that diet's Phase Two... it also reduces your fat intake (no skin on chicken, low fat dairy only, strict rules on added fats). Both diets work for me. Heck, all diets work for me if I follow them. LOL Get over to Atkins.com and get the OWL food list/rules. It's a LOT more involved than randomly adding back carbs of your choice. |
