Hello,
I'm doing an apple day today as I have only lost a little the last couple of days and had lost nothing this morning. I read that you eat your 6 apples from noon until noon the next day and only drink water, but am curious what happens the next day. Do I eat a normal VLCD dinner? Or do I eat a normal VLCD lunch and dinner? Or do I eat nothing the rest of the day? Thanks! Liz |

ekmommy you should reread pounds and inches. Apple day is a day when you take a break from the regular diet because of a long plateau ei no weight loss for about 4-6 days.
http://hcgdietinfo.com/Dr-ATW-Simeon...and-Inches.htm ctrl F then type apple day |

Apple days are basically a waste of time as you'll loose water weight but you will gain it back =( You didn't provide much information on what day you are on or why you are doing an apple day. But for an apple day you just drink your water as normal and 6 apples throughout the day. Again tho, you will only loose a little water weight then be right back up after that.
If you are in a stall your options are to wait it out, some have been known to stall for 2 weeks.. I personally just broke a 3 week stall (I hope anyway) some try mini steak days as well or increase your protein. Your body needs a time to adjust which is usually why you go into a stall. |

Thanks for the response Jan776!
How come in Pounds and Inches it says you will not regain the weight and that you're not just losing water weight, you're naturally cleaning out your system and sort of un-backing yourself up? I am on Round 1, VLCD Day 22. I am 5'7", started at 159.8lbs, and am currently 146.6lbs. My goal is 20lbs, so around 7lbs left to go. I am planning to go either until the 40 day cutoff, or I reach my goal, whatever comes first. Before this morning, the previous 5 days I had only lost a total of .2lbs. This morning I had lost .4lbs. Not a huge success with the apple day. My friend is doing the diet as well and lost 1.5lbs after her apple day, however she has quite a bit more to lose, so maybe that's why I'm stalling? Thanks again for the responses and support. Some of this stuff is a bit tricky. |

I would imagine back in the day when this book was written the science is different & maybe they worked. Of course we are in the USA and so much crap is added to our foods! For as long as I have been on this forum no one has ever recommended an apple day, people still try them but it doesn't work like many people hope.
Many people stall and there isn't an exact science but your body is going through a huge change & just needs time to catch up. In the past mini steak days worked the best for me. I drink my 2 liters of water like usual eat an apple early afternoon & then about a 6oz steak for an early dinner. Some people find that coco crack helps them to get things moving... but that stuff can be addicting! It works for some & not for others. Some people drop both fruits, some people up their proteins quite a bit... On this my 3rd round I am pretty rouge now. I lost 18 pounds in the 1st week and a half so then I hit a 3 week stall so tried something REALLY drastic that I wouldn't recommend to a newbie. I would however try the mini-steak day & make sure to eat the fat don't trim it down. I think having the fat on the mini steak day is what helps kick start things again or the coco crack but only make 1 serving and have your P2 like normal minus your fruits for the coco crack. I think the coco oil is what helps kick start things in that possibility. Of course all of this is at your own risk it either works or it doesn't & isn't like a normal cheat cause the oil/fat are good fats and clear your system quickly. It's all a hit and miss here with P2 when you stall somethings work somethings don't. Are you anywhere near TOM? That also screws everything up and will make you stall/gain then have big losses after. You are right about your friend tho, when you have a lot to loose... you loose faster! The closer you get to your goal the slower you go! Whatever you do don't do less than 30 days... it makes stabilizing easier! |

Thank you so much for those details!
I feel a lot better and think, if in a few days I've not progressed much, I will be trying a mini steak day as you described above. I did have a wierd week during my TOM a couple weeks ago, but read in Pounds and Inches not to take much notice in that (which totally makes sense since that's stressful on your body). Also, thanks much for the note about sticking with it for at least 30 days. I don't forsee reaching my goal before then, but in the event I want to do another round, I definitely won't quit before 30 days. You've been immensely helpful! |

Everyone is different and that's why some people say the apple day doesn't work. It could be your body just needs to catch up, make sure you stick to protocol and it will get back to losing. I have lost weight very slowly this entire time. I have had 2 stalls (of 4 days each), the first one I actually had a gain of a whole pound, then I did do an apple day. My apple day was only 4 apples, because I could not gag down more than that...the 6 is meant as a maximum. I ate apples at noon, 230p,4p, and 7pm, and I did wake up the next day to a larger than normal loss for me (1.4 pounds), it did not return the next day. I also ate normal protocol the day after the apple day starting with my lunch.
The last time I stalled I did not do an apple day, I decided to cut out melba and one fruit for the day, and the next day I came up with a loss. |
