My head is spinning from reading these threads, LOL. I have been spending a lot of time on the leptin/kruse/MDA threads/sites and reading all of this biochemistry is making my brain hurt!!
I went to my PCP today complaining of fatigue (I sleep 7-9 hours or more a night, and am still extremely tired during the day when I'm off the HCG), and she is going to order thyroid/CBC/cholesterol bloodwork, but is also referring me to a neurologist for a consultation. I have been previously diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea and sleep with a CPAP, so am already treated for that although she says it is likely they will want to do some more sleep studies for possible narcolepsy. She said that my excessive sleepiness may end up being treated by amphetamines - which will help with the fatigue but of course my concern is that it is not treating the underlying cause. Anyone ever been to a neurologist? Any insight? Any advice on what to ask for? I know that there are links between poor sleep and appetite, and so I'm sure that there is something going on there for me and I look forward to hopefully gaining some insight/solutions that will help me in both areas. I wish I lived closer to Dr. Kruse and could go see him! |

she probably just wants to rule out other stuff- and make sure you pass a basic neuro exam. if those are your only symptoms, i'm guessing you will. he might want to do an eeg, though. again, no big deal. check with grammy, but make sure she orders all the thyroid stuff you need- not just tsh. make sure they check T3, T4, Tsh and reverse T3. also thyroid antibodies if that has never been tested (only has to be done one time). you might also ask for a vit D level.
