A bit of my History. I am not diabetic but have had episodes of hypoglycemia even after eating before starting HCG. I have multiple symptoms of having a thyroid issue yet the results were normal. I carried the results from the lab to the Doctors office myself and seen them but don't remember the numbers for everything.
So I finally got my blood checked. So these resulta are after a little over a month on HCG. Had them check the A1C which was right in the middle of the normal range. TSH was in the middle of normal range. Most of my chemistry was also beautiful and in normal ranges. Fasting glucose was 93. Which with me having hypoglycemic episodes before HCG, I was glad to see this. My hemoglobin was in the low side of normal. Which I had been concerned about with limited protein. My liver enzymes were perfect which I worried about that after hearing being on HCG is hard on your liver. My blood work has almost always came back perfect and I sure don't want to complain about that! With that said though, nothing is giving me a clue as to what might be wrong with me. I don't even know at this point what to ask the Doctor for next. I didn't get to see him but just dropped the results at his office. So some relief that being on the HCG diet is not hurting me but some frustration that I cannot figure out what is wrong with me. OK, so considering how long I have been having issues, it is a lot frustrating. |

[...]some frustration that I cannot figure out what is wrong with me. OK, so considering how long I have been having issues, it is a lot frustrating. What are your symptoms? What is your gut feeling about your issues? What kinds of food are you eating?
You started about 75 lbs overweight, so that right there tells me you probably have some hormone issues, possibly insulin resistance and/or leptin resistance. The leptin resistance and insulin resistance can take months to correct, and not necessarily through weight loss alone. Me? I gave up on trying to get help from my doctors. All they want to do is order test and prescribe pills. That's not a good long term plan/fix for me. |

I can agree with that. Seems every time I have had an issue, I had to go through multiple tests with most results showing nothing wrong. But I knew something was and would take forever to get diagnosed and get surgery to fix it. From my gall bladder to the hysterectomy to surgery to remove a ton of adhesion's.
I for sure believe I am insulin resistant. I am hoping the weight loss and not eating modified food starch and modified corn starch and staying away from sugar will help correct it with the weight loss. I guess you're right. I need more time with more loss to give my body a chance to adjust. My symptoms, or at least the one that is making me crazy, is the insomnia and the resulting fatigue. The diet seems to have helped with not having the hypoglycemic episodes I was having. Which I have been that way most of my life just over the past couple of years it was reaching a point of doing it even after eating. Also the rate of my vision loss. It has gotten so much worse just in the past year. So that is scary so next I need an eye check up to make sure it is not something else. The tingling in my arms after sleeping I thought was circulation but then realized it was a symptom of a sugar or thyroid issue. I had a total hysterectomy and don't take any HRT. Part of the weight gain was from the injectable that made me want to eat like a cow so I quit taking it. The pills didn't absorb right and the patches never seemed to want to stay on. |

do you have a blood glucose meter? you might want to pick up one (i think you can get them free online; craigslist is another good place to find them) and check your bg before you eat, one hour and 2 hours post.
i check with someone who can prescribe bio-identical hormones for you. estrogen is very important for good sleep. you might be able to use a cream, or a troche (lozenge). might want to check out this site: jackkruse.com |

Do you feel better since eating on the hCG diet? The tingling in the hands can be hypothyroid symptoms, as is insomnia and fatigue. Sometimes even a very low calorie diet can bring on temporary hypo symptoms too. Tingling in the extremities is also a sign of insufficient B-12. Also, if you have a sensitivity to gluten or wheat, then you might want to ditch the melba or grissini and replace it with protein or veggies, because the gluten/wheat proteins can cause malabsorption issues which over the long run will cause nutritional deficiencies. It can even hinder the absorption of medicines. If you aren't absorbing the nutrients, then everything will suffer. Do you take supplements, like a really good multivitamin & mineral replacement?

It sounds to me like you have thyroid problems. The TSH is useless. I thought I had carpal tunnel in both hands from writing all day long but once I got on Armour, that all went away. your tissues swell when you're hypothyroid. Look at the symptoms at www.StopTheThyroidMadness.com and see the list of recommended tests also.

Wow there is a lot of info on that site!
What I am not finding though is where do you get the medicine? Is it prescription only? I copied and saved a list with symptoms to take to the Doc. I hope this one listens. I'm tired of barely making it through my 12 hour shifts and then having to take several cat naps on the hour drive to get home. My driving before was outright dangerous cause I would be falling asleep at the wheel. Anymore, I don't fight it and just pull over after I had a couple of scary incidents. |

Have your thyroid checked, and also ask about a sleep study. I was falling asleep while driving too, then the thyroid was diagnosed hypo, and a sleep study revealed severe sleep apnea. One of my non scale victories will be to get off the cpap machine. I cannot sleep at all without it now, the difference is night and day, but I hope one day to not need it. We'll see....

At first I thought it was a sugar issue from waiting to eat once I got home so I could have my special K instead of a stop at McDonalds. but then I started making sure to eat something a short time before leaving work and it did not help. All I know at this point is something has to change and I figure weight loss would be a good place to start. |

I'm all about getting an ANA panel after what went down with me. Make sure to get a copy of your bloodwork so you can see the titer. Different labs have different ideas of what is a positive result.
Did you have a sed rate done? it's also called ESR also, get your vitamins tested like D and B. Being deficient in those buggers can cause some really crappy issues. |
