Hello all!
I haven't been on this forum for quite some time. Summer has just entirely gotten away from me. A few weeks ago, I actually mixed up another batch of HCG, took drops the first day to load, then got swept away with kids/traveling/etc and never finished it. It was going to be my last round. Before I tried to start it again, I took a pregnancy test - Guess what... Lol I am 9 weeks as of today and have another ultrasound scheduled for next Monday. This is my problem --- I am soooo sick the entire pregnancy, all day long, that I generally end up losing weight while I'm pregnant anyway. Even though I'm not intentionally trying to. Not great, but babies have been fine, which proves my theory about how HCG works anyway (pulls from the fat stores and takes care of the fetus...) For some reason though, this time (Baby #4) I have already gained 10 pounds in the last 4 weeks that I've known I was pregnant. Not doing anything different than any other time, but it seems like everything I eat just STAYS! I have zero energy, I'm wiped out from the nausea and just praying that I could actually puke cause maybe it would help, but I never can. Here are my specific questions regarding this: 1) Could the fact that I have used HCG in the past year as a weight loss tool affect the way my body deals with the real stuff? (The other 3 babies were pre-HCG...) 2) When on the diet, we stick with the approved foods because anything else, even good fats, other veggies, etc., will cause a gain. Therefore, even if I am eating a normal diet with protein, carbs, fats, etc., can I expect to gain an insane amount of weight like I would if there was no baby and I was just on the HCG? (Wow, that one was a tad confusing.) 3) Has anyone experienced anything like this because it's really starting to get to me... Thank you in advance to anyone taking the time to help with this! Please believe me when I say I have no intention of dieting while I am pregnant. I am bound and determined to have a healthy baby, I am just trying to make sure I do not gain 50 lbs while I'm doing it!! |

you have to seriously watch what you eat while pregnant. I would only eat carbs that are necessary like the ones in veggies and fruits. Don't eat too much fruit unless you have a protein to convert it though because I gained an insane amount of weight in my last trimester of my first pregnancy eating whole bowls of fruit haha
remember that not all of it is bad weight. Your blood volume has doubled, you most likely are retaining water more. Until you notice a difference in your clothes (not just the waist lol) then you're fine. It could all be water and blood's fault. I threw up violently all during my third pregnancy to where I needed Zofran and still managed to gain like 25 lbs eating nothing but celery, cheez whiz and sushi (I know, I'm terrible) pregnancy can be a pain in the butt. I don't think it was hcg beforehand. |

I think pregnancy gets harder as we age. Also, I immediately wondered if you were carrying twins. LOL. I know that sounds weird, but from people I knwo who carry twins they immediately start putting the weight on instead of losing or holding steady. Plus all the symptoms are magnified.
Congrats. Just get plenty of regular exercise: walking, swinging, playing with the kids, yoga, etc. Eat healthy. Lots of protein. Not junk food. You will gain weight. I have learned that my body will gain a set amount of weight NO MATTER what. There is nothing I can do to stop it. But whether it comes off quickly or sticks as fat depends on what I eat. I know everyone is different but some of my friends have said the same thing. So eat healthy, relax and enjoy your pregnancy! (Try not to watch your weight. I stay off the scale. LOL) |

intime- haha Yeah, the twin thing... Well let's just say I'm still not TOTALLY convinced. At my first ultrasound last Monday they had a hard time seeing anything, and were concerned about the baby's heartbeat so I have to go back this next Monday. I asked the tech "There's only one in there right?" And she never said anything. Kinda hoping that's not the fact but where this is SO much worse right off the bat it makes me wonder.
I DO eat well, when I eat. My only real flaw is I have to have a bowl of Honey-Bunches of Oats first thing in the morning or I can't even function. I never eat it any other time, but it's the only thing that REALLY helps the nausea so that I can function. The rest of the day is all healthy (legal) food. I have been drinking my apple cidar vinegar/ginger drink to help with the water retention. I agree, I am older and that sucks. Lol I will be 31 when this baby is born and my whole family has a really hard time with pregnancy in the 30's. I'm trying my best to be happy about it because I am THRILLED! This is my husband's first and we are so excited, but the sickness, the extreme fatigue and the bloating seems to override any positivity. Lol I am already worried about the exercise part of it. With my last one, I had been going to the gym pretty hardcore when I got pregnant and I kept going till about halfway through the pregnancy when I was put on semi-bed rest. I could do only the things I ABSOLUTELY HAD to do to function. This time I can't even get out of bed till late morning and then it's so hot I can't make myself go outside to do anything. Not really getting any exercise and by the time I start feeling like it I'll probably be on rest again anyway. Wow, I just realized how negative I'm sounding. Lol I really am thrilled about the whole thing, I was just worried about the HCG thing but I think you guys have answered that just fine. I'm going to chalk it up to a 4th pregnacy and the fact that I'm turning in to an old fart. haha Thank you everybody! |

HA! Honey bunches of oats. Girl after my own heart. I have the same thing when pregnant!!!! I try to eat protein, I really do. But I can't get it down. So Honey bunches of oats is all I eat for about 3 months, for breakfast. LOL.
I also eat deviled eggs adn egg salad sandwiches for lunch. That's all the protein I can do. anyway, sounds like you have a great grasp on what to do!! |
