Default Scale issues
over the last two weeks I have gone to weigh at my Dr's office in hopes of seeing a difference for all my hard work and efforts at Atkins. The first time two weeks ago I gained 2 pounds and came out upset but good ol mom told me it's okay it probably is just fluxation and I went away okay with it. The next week I went back and I again gained two more pounds and I was then super super upset but kept up Atkins because my clothes are fitting loser and I can tell by several ways I am losing weight but for some reason the scale says other things. I am eating the right way, eating my carbs through veggies, drinking tons and tons of water and exercising 3-4 days a week for an hour. I take a daily vitamin and extra calcium. But the problem now is I am terrified of the scale. Of course I should admit that I have always had issues with the scale and number going back to my childhood when my dad would make issues about my weight before I had a problem by telling me all the time I needed to weigh a certain weight or else. Or that there was a secret scale on planes and if I weighed to much they would not let me on. I was just a kid. And although I have forgiven him, even today I have issues with the scale to the point of making myself sick at the thought of getting on one. Does anyone know why the scale would keep going up while my clothes are getting bigger on me, the wheel in the car gets futher away from my stomach, I have more flexibility, my knees do not hurt as bad, and the list goes on????????

When you go to the doctor it is when you are: clothed, after having drunk lots of water, maybe before your "daily constitutional", sometime during the day. You cannot compare weight week to week when all the factors are not the same.

I always weigh: First thing after a potty stop, unclothed just before I shower, and before ANY fluids. Even then, if I get constipated it can fluctuate a pound or so...just because of that. Even though I weigh every day, I really only pay attention to how my weight changes each Saturday a.m.

If you get a scale for home, make it a good one. My old one could not give me the same reading twice in a row.

I hope this helps...don't get discouraged!
