tril you misunderstood me, two days since I posted here, 3 weeks on the diet to be completed tomorrow, 2 pounds lots in total (count the losing and putting back on).

as for patience I feel quite unfair on me as I have 4 years trying (on and off) all sorts of diets, I think 2 pounds in 3 weeks is really a poor weight loss if you consider I've been cycling at least 1 hour everyday btw (training to be able to cycle to work so going to the park everyday and giving lots of trying), then get home and do EA sports challenge on wii, and a bit of wii sports sometimes.. more or less 4 stones lost since diagnosed with thyroid mostly with the 600cal diet[/url]

Am hoping someone will be able to give me some advice

I started the Atkins in April and lost 2 stone in 6 weeks which was amazing. Then I didn't lose anything at all for a couple of months but persevered. I lost a further half a stone but since then I have lost nothing. I have tried adjusting what I eat to see if there is a pattern. Every change I have made I have given a full week to see if there is any loss. I do not cheat and never exceed the number of netcarb points. I drink about 3 litres of water a day too and while I admit I don't exercise that much, I wasn't when I originally lost the weight

I am not putting any weight on which is why I am sticking with it because on previous diets I would have been starving and on the Atkins I am never hungry but I am getting a bit demoralised

Only changing your eating and not looking at your exercise is like only doing half the plan. Exercise will help you burn more fat and might help kick you out of your stall. That being said, everyone is different, and we all stall sometimes, even when you follow the plan to the letter. Good luck!

Flora... would you post a day or two of your food journal for us to look at?? There might be something we can suggest to kick start your weight loss.

How much cheese are you eating? How big are your protein servings? Are you adding overly generous portions of added fats like mayo and olive oil? Are you eating processed foods like sausages, bacon, deli meat? Are you eating dairy (cream)?

I know the plan says that exercise is non-negotiable... you have to do it to be on plan 100%. But I also know that it's completely possible to lose weight without it (IF and only IF you're not overeating or eating to maintain... you have to eat less). I read something once that made such sense to me (knowing my body)... someone said, "I eat right to look good in my clothes. I exercise to look good naked." THAT gets me to exercise since it never helped me lose weight!!! LOL

LOL Tril. I'm going to save that one for future use!

Also sodium intake and water retention due to heat, depending on where you're from... that's a possibility. It's cooled off a teensy bit here, but it's still hotter than heck and I have to drink a LOT more than I was in the spring even though I've lost about 20 lbs since then, just to keep me hydrated.

OK - female, early 60s need to lose about another 3 stone.

Typical consumption: 2 scrambled eggs cooked in unsalted butter for breakfast.

Lunch: stick of celery, 2ins of cucumber, few slices of raw pepper, tablespoon cream cheese, prawn/tuna/chicken (not all at once) sometimes a teaspoon of peanut butter, 2oz. cheddar cheese, sometimes lettuce with little mayo, sometimes an omelette with mushrooms or cheese or some bacon. Sugar-free jelly

Dinner: Either poached salmon, chicken, steak or other roasted meat. 6oz cauliflower or broccoli or cabbage or a bit of all. Suger-free jelly with a tablespoon or two of double cream.

1 tin diet pepsi a day, about 3 litres of water, 4 or 5 cups black coffee. Meds for high blood pressure.

I have tried cutting out the cheese as it is high in calorie if not in netcarbs. Cut out the olive oil I used to use as a salad dressing. Tried upping water and restricting processed meat - it worked to start with so I can't be doing too much wrong. Must be too many calories I think but it is the high calorie stuff like cream cheese that adds some moisture to the rest of the food. Every time I have tried to adjust what I eat I give it a week to see if it makes any difference. Hope that gives you some idea ?

Some people can't have dairy... add the EVOO back in, ditch the cheese/cream. Up your veggie intake. Count your carbs... I know it's a pain, but in the beginning you HAVE to count every fraction of carbohydrate that you eat. Not only so you don't eat too much, but so you eat ENOUGH of the RIGHT (veggie) carbs. I can't tell from what you posted if you're eating correctly... and if I don't know, you can't know. Keep a food journal for the first two weeks. Tally up the carbs so you're sure. Watch the limits... only 3 sugar free selections per day, for example. Only 3 to 4 oz of cheese per day (are you over that?). And those sugar free items DO have carbs... count each non-nutritive sweetener packet as one carb, each diet soda is one, your jelly is one. The sweetener doesn't have carbs in it... but the filler (maltodextrin) they use does!!!

Those are my off the cuff suggestions! Hope it helps.

What is EVOO?? To be honest if I couldn't have the cream cheese to moisten stuff I would pack it in altogether. I do count my carbs. I have a postitnote on my laptop and add everything up each day. Usually between 14-19 a day. I haven[t just started the diet, I have been doing it since April with a good weight loss the first 6 weeks and have been counting the netcarbs since day 1 Today I have had:

2 scrambled eggs 0.5oz mushrooms

1 stick of celery, 2oz cucumber, 1 tablespoon of cream cheese 2oz prawns a slice of smoked salmon and half a tin of tuna

Tonight I will have a breast quarter of chicken with 6oz cauliflower and 6oz broccoli and possibly 1tablespoon of cream cheese followed by a quarter pint of sugar free jelly and a tablespoon of double cream

I don't use a sugar substitute at all and only have the 2 x sugar free jellies a day, sometimes only one if I am short of time.

I never have more than 2oz cheddar cheese at a time and only once a week max as I did think the number of calories were high

What I don't understand is why , if the first 6 weeks the weight was falling off, that now I am not even when I have reduced the portion size of the meat I am eating. I think my body seems to have got used to the lack of carbs and sugar and is quite happy lol. I did wonder if it was worth a week off the diet to jump start my system again but the worry would be if I put some back on.
