We have cats. Fish. Snakes lizards tarantulas and a tortoise. None would really go on holiday with us. If we had a dog I'd take it depending on what holiday it is

I have taken my two female yorkies on a 24 hour road trip. The majority of the time they were in the kennel sleep or playing with their toys. They got out for food water and an quick walk when I stopped for gas or a snack break. If I took a trip now I would try to find someone to keep an eye on them for me or find a good boarding kennel.

Nope, not usually. We do take our dog with us now whenever we go out of town. We only go out of town to visit family now and he can't be left at a kennel. So he comes with us and gets a room to himself so nobody messes with him.

No I have never done this. We board our dog and she loves it so we don't even think about taking her on vacation because she will be getting her own vacation! We either board her and the owner loves her and treats her so well. The woman's house is connected to the kennel so she is there 24/7. If we don't do that then we will take her to my in-laws house so she can play with her buddy that they have. Either way she is loving it.

The cats we just let stay home. They don't need to be watched so closely so we leave them with multiple bowls of food and water and just let them be. We will usually only do this if it is like a weekend trip, otherwise I try to get someone to come over and check on them but I never board them.

I've taken my dog on vacation a few times. I prefer to leave him with someone because it's a lot easier for us and for him. I have gone on a few road trips where I'd take him because we were going to see family. That was fine, he's a good at traveling in the car and on the plane. He's a small dog though so he has some room to stretch his legs in the car. Then when I stay at my family's place, I don't have to put him in a crate or anything, it's like a home away from home.

Yeah, I have before. In the past we've brought our dogs, cats, cockatiels and our musk turtle. It depends on the vacation and on the animal. If it would be stressful to the animal then I wouldn't.

I've definitely taken my cat on vacations with me. I try to pick upscale extended-stay places that allow pets. She has a small carrier that can be stowed under the airplane seat and buy her ticket. She's a very placid cat and doesn't need to be sedated. She's a good traveler and loves our favorite hotel. She loves to watch the guests coming and going from the window and room service always makes over her.

We've done this with our poodle. The problem is he whines like crazy every time you leave him alone. I mean he whines like he's being killed. One time, we tried to sneak him into a hotel to try to avoid paying the pay fee that we didn't know was coming. He was so loud, that we had to bring him with us when we went on our outings. We ended up having to leave him in a kennel, which he hated even more. now we don't bother bringing him. We will always seek out a babysitter for our dog before we go on vacation.

Default Do you take your pet on vacation with you?
Do you ever take your pet on vacation with you? I've only done it once. I took my cat on a road trip 10 hours up the coast of California. I was traveling with my mom for a 3 week stay. We made 3 stops along the way to make sure my cat had fresh water and could get fresh air and stretch. She did great. Have you every taken your furry friend with you on a trip? Or do you leave home with a friend to watch?

It depends where we are going. If we are going camping or somewhere where does are allowed, we take ours with us. If we are flying somewhere or going somewhere where does will be a problem, I leave her at home and get someone to take care of her.
