Ok, I always did wonder out of curiosity (I've never seen this covered here yet), especially as my parents and I were talking about this the other day (they have been really good about understanding the breed through me), if I were stopped by an officer, for whatever reason (one being perhaps, some anti pit bull individual, calling the authority on you if they happen to notice you with one), while out walking my girl and he happen to notice my break stick in my back pocket and we all know break sticks are usually dog fighting paraphernalia in the eyes of the law, could you legally be penalized or ticketed, for solely carrying one? I am sure your local laws etc might be a common answer here, but I've tried to research technicalities regarding this issue, but can't find anything on here or the web. The only thing I have gathered is the fact that, if your dog happens to get in a fight with someone's loose dog in public that charged you and you used your break stick, it could be used against you, for the "knowing your dog is dangerous" route and you are taking a big risk by carrying one.
I mean, we only carry one everywhere, as apart of our responsible ownership (at least I do) as we all know, but how would this play out if the officer asked you why are you carrying one and he doesn't buy the truth and decided to take action against you? Note, I always keep it hidden as best as possible, but sometimes depending on what I am wearing, it is somewhat noticeable as some sort of object. I just really want to know my rights with this in conclusion, the more I have thought about it recently. |
