Put an add up oN CL and I'm puttin up posters tomorrow. Even went walkin around askin people around here if they lost a dog, so far nothing. He is super friendly and has been playin with Max all day.

When I find a dog (they follow Peanut home on walks or show up at the front door) I drive around w the dog in the car and anyone I see outside I ask if they know the dog. I do that a couple of times a few hours apart. I check CL (which has never worked) to see if anyone had posted the dog. After that I go to nearby vets and PetSmart/Petco to see if the dog is chipped (I go to more than one if the first finds no chip because of the different readers). I take pics of the dog (and the dog) when I go to the vets to see if they recognize the dog and leave the pic at each vet if they don't. Then I start calling all the vets within a certain distance to see if they know of a missing dog. All this time I drive around looking for lost posters. So far the only dog this didn't work with is Peanut. And she moved in, so she found her home.

Have you called your local AC and see if anyone called about a missing dog?

So cute!!! Oh man. Haha. Definitely call the shelter. Give them a description of the dog in case someone calls looking for him. And I'm sure you know this, but don't put a detailed description of him in the craigslist ad and no picture on the posters. And since he's wearing a collar you can probably ask anyone who calls about him to describe the collar as well as his looks. You don't want just anyone saying he's theirs. Good luck. =)

I personally wouldn't be letting him interact with your dog.. but it's too late now. You just don't know what he's been exposed to, his vaccine/deworming history, etc. Better safe than sorry.

Aside from that... what everyone else has said!

Oh, and yes I contact the shelter if all else fails. I did that with Peanut and since I wasn't about to take her down there and leave her, I sent a picture. And yeah, when we find strays we don't let them near Peanut.
