Default Carsick?
Is there any way to tell if your dog is getting car sick? I've had my 2 yo pit bull for about 3 weeks now. Obviously, I'm still trying to get to know him and his personality so I'm not sure if I even have to be concerned at all. He is generally very well behave but does get pretty enthusiastic about going outside or going for a walk so it puzzles me how calm and still he stays in the car (he just lays down on the back seat for the duration of the trip). I've had a dog in the past that did the same thing and would eventually throw up on any car ride longer than 20mins or so. If he is getting motion sick, is there anything to help it? I'd hate to have him feel miserable all the time in the car.

Gravol, call your vet and see how much to give for your dogs weight.

He sounds like he might be a good traveler. Is he drooling a lot when he's back there? If so, he is probably getting motion sickness. If not, he's probably just chilling and enjoying the ride.

There is something you can give him, and as Ali32 said, get with your vet to get the right dosage for his size.

I know that if we don't have a window down with fresh air coming in our girl, who never gets sick, will get sick.

Just as a precaution you could get a waterproof mattress pad to cover your seats just in case. When our dog was a pup I always had extra plastic bags, paper towel and an extra towel.
