As many drugs as I have done, I can honestly say I have never even thought about buying a puppy while on them. Now, playing with dogs is totally different. My and my friends dogs love it when I am buzzed because they know I'll get into a groove of petting, training w treats and/or playing. Me being high = butt scratchin, liberal treat dispensing and rousing games of tug.

Ditto. Getting another dog is the last thing on my mind when I'm fucked up (cause I've already got 3 bastards eating up all my fun time money). However, in an altered state of consciousness, they know we're going to wrassle, throw a stick around, go on a bike ride (or a drunk walk to the liquor store, or the ever fun 3 hour trip walk), and everyone gets to pass out in the big bed. And me and boyfriend break the "no table scraps" rule. And Ethel always gets a big bowl of beer, and Lucy always gets irie.

Not long ago I was talking with one of the guys at my local pet shop, he's been there a long time so me and Thomas somewhat know him and we usually chat when we go in. He was talking about how he refused to sell some girl Neon Tetras (fish) and she was all PO about it, but he has the right to refuse sale if he has reason. Then he started saying how people will come in hammered/messed up on drugs and try to buy all sorts of pets, including cats and dogs.

Geeze, can you imagine waking up in the morning with 3 dogs and a bird but not knowing where you got them?

Fish don't count. They're not really animals, in fact they don't even have souls or any sort of feelings.

Hahaha I don't believe that anyone/thing has a soul, but if you can train a fish to do things then they've got to posses some kind of intelligence, at least certain species. Guppies, Danios, Tetras - those are some stupid fish. Bettas and goldfish I have found to be pretty "self aware" in many ways.

Regardless, drunks shouldn't be allowed to purchase animals.

I'd totally buy a puppy if I was loaded. Although I'd keep it because I meant it!

Definitely an excellent alternative to anonymous drunk sex. And much cuter to wake up to in the morning.

I cant imagine being wasted and needing to buy a puppy..but i cant talk because years ago I got a cat that way, a friend called crying cause he mom wouldnt let her keep it and my drunk ass said..bring him here. Thankfully 2 years later my aunt begged me to keep him because she loved him and I worked full time. I didnt miss him im not even a cat person, though i never mistreated him.

lmao I work at a pet store and this happens a lot. It's funny when they come back to try and return the dog and attempt to play off that they weren't drunk and make up lame excuses as to why they want to return them. Since you can only return if the pup is sick we've had people sign the abandonment papers and leave without a pup and $3000+.

That's a recipe for disaster. Pups are bad enough - drunken pups would be just terrible.

Yeah this was on the news here 2 weeks ago. I blame the stupid store employees who obviously see the people are hammered but still sell to them anyway.
